Marianna Trezza -The Growing mindset

Counsellor/Therapist, MA (Hons), Adv Dip. Counsel. & Psychoth.,Dip. Hypnoth., X-Cultural Adaptation Coun. Reg. BACP 572613
Many highly sensitive women living abroad spend years feeling “too much” for the environments around them. Too emotional. Too intense. Too affected by other people, places or atmospheres. Over time, many learn to monitor themselves carefully in order to adapt, belong and avoid judgement. For women living between cultures and languages, this sensitivity can become even more complex. Constant adaptation, emotional self-monitoring and feeling different from those around them can leave the nervous system emotionally exhausted and overstimulated. Yet sensitivity is not a weakness. Often it is a deep capacity for perception, empathy, intuition and emotional awareness that simply has not been supported with enough safety, grounding or space to breathe. My work offers a warm, reflective and nervous-system-informed space where highly sensitive women can begin reconnecting with their own rhythm, boundaries, authenticity and emotional wellbeing without constantly feeling the need to harden, perform or over-adapt. I integrate psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, EFT, embodiment, lifestyle medicine, reflective dialogue and nature-based approaches to support women in relating to their sensitivity with greater self-understanding, regulation and self-trust.

Adima Hawkes

Counsellor/Therapist, Psychotherapist, Spiritual Teacher, Gene Keys Guide, Trainer Tibetan Acupressure & Iridology
I know about highly sensitive, because I am diagnosed it. The world and other people in it have often looked overwhelming and "too much" for me. This can lead to isolation. The challenge is to differentiate between physical symptoms and reactions and emotional and psychological reactions. Sometimes certain measure or changes in the environment can help. The challenge is not to (blindly) escape or react with self judgement or repress. I found out that the more I open up to vulnerability, the more stable and confident I feel. I'd love to support you in accepting and fully embracing your sensitivities and learning to regulate yourself with them.

Highly Sensitive People (HSP) seem to soak up the experiences of all those around them. This can lead to chronic feelings of exhaustion in mind, body and spirit. You bring your experience of a HSP to me and we will work through it together. This may look like learning how to create boundaries that fit your values & strengthening your understanding of what self care feels like to you.

Canberra is Australia's purpose-built capital city and home to the federal public service, creating a therapy landscape shaped by the particular stresses of government work — including burnout, moral injury, and careers lived in close proximity to political power. The city has the highest median income and education level of any Australian capital, with a population generally comfortable seeking therapy and willing to engage in longer-term work. Canberra Hospital provides institutional mental health services alongside a well-established private practice community serving the inner south, Belconnen, and Tuggeranong. A recurring theme across many Canberra practices is the tension between personal values and the constraints of institutional work — a dynamic that cuts across much of the city's therapy culture.
