A 'personality disorder' is a dreaded diagnosis for many. Partly due to the stigma it attracts, but also because this umbrella term encompasses a varied set of personal and interpersonal difficulties that are persistent (are not confined in set period of a person's life), problematic and pervasive (affect more than one area of life).
