Many, if not most of us have experienced trauma at some point in our lives. Traumas may be very significant events such as sexual abuse, natural disasters, car accidents, loss of a loved one etc. Or traumas can be what we might consider less signifiant events in our lives such as being embarrassed or humiliated or emotional abuse from another person. Although we usually try to do our best to overcome the effects of these experiences on our own, sometimes unresolved trauma can lead to greater difficulties and create parts of ourselves that get 'stuck' leaving us unable to move past the memories and related physiological sensations. Perhaps you are anxious and fearful of certain people, places or situations, or maybe you just always feel 'on edge', and unable to truly relax and feel safe. Maybe you have intrusive thoughts or images that just won't stop. Some people, especially those with PTSD may have flashbacks and nightmares stemming from the traumatic memories. Others often experience muscle tension or chronic pain that may also be related to the trauma(s) experienced, but they have not yet been able to fully process and resolve these experiences. If any of these stress response symptoms sound familiar to you, or if you have experienced trauma in your life and want to be supported as you work through those difficult memories and the places you may find yourself 'stuck', I will do my best to help you find some relief so you can enjoy an improved quality of life.

Trauma isn't simply what happened to you. It's often what your life had to become in order to survive what happened. It can quietly shape your relationships, your nervous system, your confidence, and the way you move through the world long after the danger has passed. Healing isn't about forgetting the past. It's about understanding how your mind and body learned to protect you while discovering that survival no longer has to be the only way you participate in life.
