Portland, Oregon therapist: Dr. Michael Marossy, psychologist
Intersubjective Therapy

Dr. Michael Marossy

Psychologist, Ph.D.
I am a licensed psychologist with a PhD providing therapy for adolescents, adults, and couples in California and Oregon. My approach is warm, collaborative, insight-oriented, and grounded in psychoanalytic/psychodynamic theory. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship where clients feel understood rather than judged, and where difficult emotions and experiences can be explored openly and thoughtfully. I work with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, relationship issues, identity concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, and life transitions. I also have experience working with pastors, ministry leaders, and clients seeking therapy that thoughtfully integrates Christian faith and spirituality into the therapeutic process when desired. I believe therapy is most effective when it helps people move beyond surface-level coping and toward deeper self-understanding, emotional freedom, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of meaning and direction in life.

New York City, New York therapist: Dr. Stéphanie Gamache, PhD, hypnotherapist
Intersubjective Therapy

Dr. Stéphanie Gamache, PhD

Hypnotherapist, PhD
Something in you knows that what you're carrying runs deeper than the presenting problem. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and outwardly composed-yet internally they live with anxiety, depression, chronic tension or pain, relentless self-criticism, or a sense that something essential is blocked, muted, or just out of reach. These struggles may surface in mood, in the body, in behavior, or in relationships-including sexuality and intimacy-but they are rarely contained to any one area. They tend to reflect deeper emotional and relational patterns formed early in life, often before language, that continue to shape how a person approaches closeness, vulnerability, agency, pleasure, and self-expression. My work centers on how early experience shapes the capacity for self-regulation, desire, connection, and meaning throughout life-and particularly on how people come to know what they need and want, how they learn to express or inhibit those impulses, and what happens when these capacities become conflicted, constricted, or difficult to sustain. I integrate psychoanalytic hypnotherapy, somatic awareness, and clinical sexology within a reflective, depth-oriented process. Hypnosis functions as a central clinical tool-creating conditions for deeper internal contact with emotional, bodily, and unconscious experience that can be difficult to reach through conversation alone. The aim is not only relief from symptoms, but the development of a more coherent and compassionate relationship with one's inner life: sensations, emotions, impulses, and desires. This work is oriented toward lasting psychological change-and toward greater freedom in how one relates to oneself, one's body, and one's capacity for connection, authenticity, and vitality. It is best suited to those ready to move beyond symptom management toward something more fundamental.

South Pasadena, California therapist: Nathan Ely, LMFT, marriage and family therapist
Intersubjective Therapy

Nathan Ely, LMFT

Marriage and Family Therapist, MDiv, LMFT
I first got my start in ministry working as a worship leader and musician, and later in the private and public schools as a teacher. These experiences opened my eyes to the need for people of all ages to find healing through difficult experiences. My therapy career began in the private practice setting and then I worked at a clinic as a child and family therapist for several years before starting my own practice. My specialization and training is in working with couples, kids and families and individuals. Currently, I'm an EMDR certified therapist which is one of the best evidence based trauma recovery models for those wanting to move through painful experiences and find healing from trauma. My goal is to walk with you on the healing journey and help you understand how to have a healthier relationship with yourself and others.

Huntington Beach — 'Surf City USA' — cultivates a strong outdoor and athletic identity that creates particular mental health dynamics around body image, performance anxiety, and the psychological costs of a lifestyle culture that prizes youth and physical capability. The city's predominantly White, affluent coastal character contrasts with pockets of economic precarity and a substance use landscape connected to its beach culture and proximity to the broader Orange County recovery community. Hoag Hospital provides institutional mental health resources alongside a well-established private therapy community serving Huntington Beach and the surrounding South Orange County coastal corridor. The city's proximity to both Los Angeles and the Orange County recovery ecosystem means therapists here frequently work at the intersection of addiction, identity, and the particular stresses of competitive coastal California life.
