I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience and received my Ph.D. from University of Michigan in both the child and adult tracks. In my practice, I have a highly experienced team who provide integrated, multidisciplinary, and holistic care for children, families, adolescents, college students, and adults. We collaborate closely with you to address your unique and multiple needs. We offer therapy and counseling, assessments, neurofeedback, expressive arts therapy, behavioral interventions, and in-home and in-school support. We are the most seasoned state of the art Neurofeedback Center in San Diego. Brain Mapping, Neurofeedback and Neuromodulation is our PRIMARY speciality. Dr. Kakaiya is an experienced Integrative Psychologist who is BCIA Certified, which is the Gold Standard for training and certification. Dr. Kakaiya's favorite conferences are IMMH (Integrative Medicine for Mental Health) and ISNR (National Neurofeedback conference). She believes in keeping herself up-to-date with all the amazing innovation that is occuring in Neuroscience. Having a Postdoctoral Degree in Psychopharmacology allows Dr. Kakaiya to have depth of knowledge on how the brain gets impacted by medications. She has worked very collaboratively with MD's to change the medications, even reduce them, or even eliminate them completely. As a brain expert she has the pleasure of being a thought leader in the neurofeedback field.

I have worked with individuals and couples for over 10 years on everything from relationship challenges to working through personal crisis or unrealized goals. My coaching style utilizes mindfulness practices with tools for a deeper sense of self awareness and self care and increases a sense of resilience, patience, compassion and conscious intentional action rather than reaction and repeating unconscious patterns.
