Trauma based dissociative (parts) support has been our focus and specialization throughout (14+ years). Most brains dissociate to some degree, under deep strain and stress and even repeated strain, dissociation is a way that some brains adapt to the intensive or repeated stress/strain/torture. We draw from DBR (shock recovery work), CranioSacral brain support work, Parts (TIST, IFS, EFIT, IPNB, Bonnie Badenoch's work, ...and inner child work, somatic and expressive arts, neurodevelopmental support, as well as characterological structure work within an attachment theory, non pathologizing framework. We work with clients to identify parts, systems, adaptations, responses, alters ... and what activates them. We support with memory reconsolidation and integrative support. Via IFS, Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory, NVC and IPNB Integration Processes, we work through mapping the system and healing exiled parts. For integration we offer Eco-Relational support, Mindfulness, or whatever framework the client gravitates towards and feels safe with accessing. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Tim Eby-McKenzie
Marriage and Family Therapist, MA, LMFT
Dissociation is the mind's defense against persistent or severe trauma and neglect. It is when a person disconnects from their thoughts, feelings, memories or sense of identity. This process is an amazing defense/survival mechanism, but it also leads to patterns that interfere with normal functioning. Ego-state work, combined with EMDR works to heal the profoundly painful impact of this type of trauma, and leads to significantly enhanced resilience and the ability to experience joy, love and belonging - both internally, and in relationships with others.

Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT
Sometimes in life, an experience so traumatic happens that my psyche splits and cuts off part of myself in order to protect myself from what happened. It was a defensive mechanism at the time of the trauma to protect me from my incapacity to process it, but now its also created a situation where part of me is cut off from the other part of me. If I stay this way, I remain stuck in a fragmented or wounded place psychologically. The reality is we all want to be whole and part of healing may involve a process of reintegrating all the parts of myself with each other. If you think you may be dissociating, call us. We would come alongside you to help you.

Sometimes when our experiences overwhelm us, the body has an adaptive response of fragmenting into parts as a protective factor against harm. We can work together to get to know your parts and to determine what their highest-level needs are, and how each can experience more peace and belonging.
