Much of the therapy I provided in the inpatient setting was dealing with trauma during the developmental years. I found myself later working with some forty persons impacted by the Oklahoma City bombing on an outpatient basis. Fortunately, I was able to do specialized training with Green Cross mentioned above in providing treatment for trauma & PTSD (I prefer the term Post-traumatic Stress Syndrome versus) because, as Viktor Frankl said, "Abnormal reactions to abnormal events equals normal behavior." I have PTSS as a result of childhood trauma, for which I received treatment in years past and have learned to manage constructively.

Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can be debilitating conditions that can greatly impact an individual's mental and emotional well-being. Trauma can be caused by a wide range of events such as physical or emotional abuse, accidents, natural disasters, and combat. PTSD is a condition that can develop after a person has been through a traumatic event. As a therapist, I specialize in helping individuals who have experienced trauma and PTSD. I use evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which have been proven to be effective in treating trauma and PTSD. CBT is a form of therapy that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to their symptoms. TF-CBT is a specific type of CBT that is designed to help individuals who have experienced traumatic events such as sexual abuse. In therapy sessions, we will work together to understand the underlying causes of your trauma and PTSD and develop strategies to manage your symptoms. We will also work on building resilience and coping skills to help you navigate through the challenges that you may face. Trauma and PTSD can be difficult and overwhelming, but with the right support, it is possible to heal and move forward. I am here to help you navigate this process, and I encourage you to reach out for help.

Nicole Bieri

Pre-Licensed Professional, MFTC, EMDR trained, Gottman level 1 &2 trained.
Working with individuals who have experienced trauma and suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) demands a deeply empathetic and trauma-informed approach. At our organization, we prioritize creating a safe and validating environment where clients feel heard and supported as they navigate their healing journey. Our team is trained in evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and trauma-focused interventions to address the complex needs of those affected by trauma and PTSD. We recognize the importance of building trust and establishing a sense of safety before delving into the challenging work of processing traumatic memories. Through compassionate listening, validation, and skillful guidance, we empower our clients to gradually confront and reframe their traumatic experiences, develop effective coping strategies, and regain a sense of control and resilience in their lives. With a commitment to dignity, autonomy, and healing, we stand alongside our clients as they journey towards reclaiming their sense of peace and well-being.

Trauma disorders are characterized by painful repetitions in the form of symptoms, for example a general bodily feeling of uneasiness or a painful memory. Something of the trauma you experienced seems to have taken up residence in your mind. Treating trauma is a process that begins by speaking freely, without an agenda. This may lead to a new form of freedom from the event and a way forward into a life worth living.
