Camilla Werdelin
Counsellor/Therapist, Psychotherapy and Counselling MA, Registered Member of BACP
You may know you are struggling but not feel ready change. Or you may be desperate to change and just feel the need for some guidance. I'll meet you where you are and decide with you how you would like to approach this. Often this includes a combination of looking at your current behaviours, and working on some behaviour change, whilst also thinking about your history, your childhood and your past relationships, as these are often linked. I have a deep understanding of eating disorders and how they can influence your life, and I hope to create a compassionate space where you feel you can be honest about what you're going through.

Eating disorder work explores the emotional and relational patterns that often sit beneath behaviours around food, control, and self-worth. I support people in developing greater awareness, emotional regulation, and compassion towards themselves. The focus is on building stability and a healthier relationship with needs and emotions.

Gordon Wax BA HONS MBACP
Counsellor/Therapist, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist
I help people understand food from the oral and anal stage of sychological development. We learn about behaviour around eating and ways to respect and enjoy food in healthier way. Often it's not food that's a problem but a side effect.

Benjamin Marr
Counsellor/Therapist, BA MA Relational Psychotherapist/ Birkbeck College - Psychodynamic Counsellor
The generalised term “eating disorder” can cover many forms of unusual, or atypical eating habits and also includes disordered, or distorted body image (body dysmorphia) and even, possibly, addiction to exercise. Eating disorders can effect both men and women and it has been estimated to affect anything up to 5% of all people at some point in their lives, with a relatively greater propensity amongst older adolescent boys and younger men. Other eating disorders may also include behaviours such as the compulsion to exercise excessively, or a negative, or distorted body image, as well as obsessive thoughts, habits and behaviours surrounding various aspects of food.
Relational psychotherapy can generate the opportunity with eating disorders to examine and explore any possibly deep-rooted emotional explanations that may have contributed to issues around food, exercise and body image. With eating disorders, relational psychotherapy creates the opportunity to possibly identify any such sensitive areas and instigate a process to overcome troubling, obsessive or destructive behaviours in a supportively safe space. My private practice has successfully provided a guided and structured approach – comprising both cognitive interventions and practical strategies – to support clients as they initialise a process to create a healthier relationship for themselves with both food and their bodies.

Emma Poxon
Counsellor/Therapist, MA Person-Centred Experiential Counselling
Eating disorders can feel completely overwhelming, like there's no way out. As your therapist I am here to be with you, reminding you that you are not alone. We can explore how your eating disorder feels for you, when it is at its worst, and help you to gain more of a sense of control over this. You are not a problem to be fixed, my aim as your therapist is to try to provide the right conditions to allow you to explore whatever you want to bring to therapy to support your growth. This isn't a therapeutic approach wherein I will set a treatment plan or tell you what to do. We will work together as a partnership rather than me taking away your autonomy. I absolutely love the work I do, it is the biggest privilege being let into people’s personal worlds and seeing the immense growth of my clients. I hope to hear from you soon!
