Life coaching is a collaborative, forward-focused partnership that helps individuals unlock their personal and professional potential, bridge the gap between where they are now and where they want to be, and create actionable strategies to achieve their goals.
Unlike therapy—which often explores past wounds, trauma, and deep-seated emotional healing—life coaching focuses on the present and is directed entirely toward the future.
What a Life Coach Does
Clarifies Vision & Goals: Helps you figure out what you truly want out of your career, relationships, health, or personal growth, cutting through confusion or overwhelm.
Creates Actionable Plans: Breaks big, intimidating dreams down into concrete, manageable, step-by-step milestones.
Provides Accountability: Keeps you motivated, tracks your progress, and gently holds you to the commitments you make to yourself.
Overcomes Mental Blocks: Identifies self-limiting beliefs, procrastination habits, or negative thought patterns that keep you stuck, helping you reframe them into empowering perspectives.
Maximises Performance: Strengthens decision-making, time management, and leadership skills so you can thrive at work and at home.
Common Areas of Focus
Career Transitions & Advancement: Changing fields, securing a promotion, launching a business, or finding better work-life balance.
Personal Growth & Confidence: Building self-esteem, improving communication skills, or navigating major life changes.
Health & Wellness: Creating sustainable habits around fitness, stress management, sleep, and daily routines.
Relationships & Dating: Clarifying what you want in partnerships and learning how to set healthy boundaries.
How It Differs from Therapy
Therapy: Focuses on healing—exploring the past, processing trauma, managing mental health conditions, and understanding why you feel or act a certain way.
Coaching: Focuses on doing—optimising performance, building the future, setting goals, and mapping out how to get there.
Remember: A life coach doesn’t give you answers or tell you how to live; instead, they serve as a strategic sounding board, champion, and guide to help you discover your best path forward.

Life Coaching is the latest fad found in training, within counselling/coaching these days. Personally i don't think it is an alliance of those two but rather an alliance between 'coaching and psychotherapy', because in counselling one must not offer advice or make suggestions other than look at options, counsellors are not to take responsibility for clients decision making, so altering a persons life decisions could be quite consequential for the worst, we are told. So for a life change in direction, It needs to come from the client, or it's not true counselling. Coaching is something else and a good coach needs the in depth training in psychotherapy experience and to comprehend the deep workings of the mind to make a significant improvement for the better and the client needs to be aware you have that extra wisdom that comes from the work as a psychotherapist and not as a simple counsellor.

What is your purpose in life. What is the meaning. Profound questions and hard to answer. Philosophers have been trying for centuries. They are however essential questions to get a grip on, if you want to understand and explore you life in order to get the most from it. As a therapist I can help. I would like to meet with you to see what can be done to help you. This will enable us to get to know each other and see if we can work together. It’s important for you to work with someone you trust and feel safe with.

Life coaching and counselling overlap in many areas. While I am a counsellor, a certain level of life coaching is involved in the work as we are searching for solutions, looking for direction, making decisions about how you want your life to be. We will look at areas that have held you back in the past and how you can reduce or eliminate these in order to move forward as your best self.
