Marriage and Family Therapist, EdD; EdS; MA; MA; LCMFT#0404011018; BCCLC#0131
Of the various marriage and couple therapies and models I have studied, I gravitate to the behavioral and emotion-centered approaches namely: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT). In terms of the behavioral approaches, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and its “spin-offs” provide a wealth of applicability and contextual viability. In addition, I am attracted to this approach as a practitioner due to its high level of empirical validation.
Relationships and marriage consist of ebbs and waves; there will be good times but also difficult times that can make you question your confidence in staying in the relationship. Through those challenging moments, know that support is available for you and your partner. By collaboratively working with your partner and counselor, we will work through your relationship issues as a team in order to figure out what is best for you, your partner and your relationship.
