Cindy Yu is a bilingual (English and Mandarin Chinese) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the states of both Florida and Alabama. She is well-trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, solution-focused therapy, Bowen’s theory, Gottman Method, CBT, and more. Cindy believes that each client is comprised of unique yet charismatic components such as personal upbringings, religious beliefs, and cultural backgrounds, that all contribute to narrate a cohesive personal story. This fundamental ideology has cultivated her into offering her clients unconditional positive regard and respect, while tailoring her treatment orientations to better serve each client’s individuality. Cindy also has a background in the medical field where she has obtained a strong foundational knowledge for medical diagnosis and medications. The concept of Sound Mind Sound Body LLC is based on an Ancient Greek proverb that in order to be truly healthy, one must be healthy in both mind and body-if there is an imbalance, there is less fulfillment in one’s life. My goal is to help you to achieve that balance. There is an obvious emphasis in attaining physical health, and too often, there is less emphasis on the importance of mental health. In particular, how mental health can be impacted by physical health, and how physical health can impact mental health. Whether you experience chronic illness, trauma, identity issues (sexual orientation, ethnicity, the roles we play)-these are all areas that can affect one’s overall health. As a clinical psychologist, I have years of experience working in all these areas and hope to serve you to improve your well being. As someone who also struggles with chronic illness, specifically Crohn's Disease and PSC, my personal experience can also be helpful in improving understanding and treatment. Asking for help is hard, especially when you are in pain or feeling isolated. It's a brave step to reach out for help. I have a boutique practice where I work with adults and couples on personal development, anxiety/depression, relationship/communication issues, parenting solutions and boundary setting. As a graduate of California State University Northridge, I attended Pepperdine University and later received my Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from CSPP. While completing my Fellowship at UCLA in the Department of Psychiatry, I was a Research Associate and Lecturer in Neurology. I offer my life experience as a wife and mother of two, I understand the pressures that arise trying to create meaningful lives in a world full of pressures.
