I prefer the term psychological abuse because it captures more of the far-reaching impact that this type of abuse can have. Your "psyche" is your sense of self, your core, and THIS is what is affected most by psychological abuse. It is a hideous and cruel form of abuse with long-lasting and pervasive consequences. I lead a support group bimonthly for survivors and also provide individual therapy for this, especially with my divorcing/divorced clients.
