Denver, Colorado therapist: Carrie Gauthier, hypnotherapist
Serving Buddhist

Carrie Gauthier

Hypnotherapist, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, CCHt
Fear, anxiety, anger, shame, guilt, sadness; we are taught to repress these uncomfortable emotions and mask our pain. When these BIG emotions are shoved down for so long, they try to get our attention in various ways. We push back harder. They often manifest as maladaptive behaviors, habits, addictions, and even chronic physical and psychological conditions. We may overeat, overwork, over-promise, people-please, self-sabotage, be unable to focus, thrill-seek, put ourselves in danger, act out, procrastinate, deplete our own resources, and more. The majority of this type of unwanted behavior and thinking often can be traced back to some form of trauma, abuse, abandonment, or neglect. My hypnotherapy sessions help to process the emotions in a safe and loving way, and facilitate healing; so you feel safe in your own mind and comfortable in your own skin. We simultaneously work on reframing the debilitating thoughts and behaviors with healthy and supportive new ones that support your new goals. It is in this way we let go of the old stories and rewrite the future of our dreams.

Maria T. Alonso, Ph.D.

Psychologist
I believe that psychotherapy offers you an opportunity to examine your life story and in the process, gain new perspective and insight to re-write it and create a new narrative. While you may come to therapy with a problem to explore and address, I will also help you identify your personal character strengths and ways to nurture them, in order to support your personal growth and achieve your goals. I am a warm and supportive psychotherapist with an eclectic therapuetic approach, using both Western evidence based interventions as well as Eastern treatment approaches to help promote your healing and growth. I believe that collaboration, openness, curiosity and humor are key ingredients to a successful therapeutic experience. Psychotherapy is an adventure and I look forward to walking by your side on your chosen journey.

West Caldwell, New Jersey therapist: Peter Linden, licensed clinical social worker
Serving Buddhist

Peter Linden

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, Certified Gestalt Therapist
As an AuDHD man with learning disabilities, I had an experience growing up that is all too familiar within the neurodivergent community. Often feeling misunderstood and out of place, I was faced with indifference, ignorance, neglect, gaslighting, shame, and the assumption that I could navigate a world that was not built for me without the support I so badly needed. Lonely, adrift, and struggling to find a sense of belonging, I was cast aside and left to fend for myself. After a series of negative experiences with mental health resources and support, I found my way to a couples therapist in 2014. There, I discovered Gestalt therapy while experiencing the gifts of love, kindness, safety, acceptance, curiosity, and flow. Through embodied awareness and responding, rather than reacting, I came to trust my innate power, humanity, body, and the certainty of the earth. In 2019, I began studying Gestalt therapy following the unexpected end of my marriage. Amidst despair, sorrow, sadness, loneliness, and grief, I discovered a vehicle that challenged me in all domains of existence. Here, I grieved, faced impermanence, and gradually co-created the scaffolding from which I could emerge in a more embodied way as an AuDHD man, human being, and partner. As I found life again, I became increasingly aware of the profound suffering experienced by neurodivergent people. Endless demands that we grind away in search of acceptance, love, and certainty left us adrift, performing, deadened, and increasingly separate in an ableist world. Through Gestalt therapy, I continued to experience connectedness, belonging, compassion, the wonder of curiosity, and love itself. I finally found spontaneity, playfulness, and excitement in relation to myself, other people, and even existence itself. With this mission, I founded Welcome Home Healing in 2023. Since then, I have had the honor of joining people as they awaken, live, and emerge into their humanity within the unfolding now.
