Merrisa Dawn Santos
Licensed Professional Counselor, MA, LPC, NCC, CCTMHP, CCTP
In supporting patients struggling with OCD issues, I provide compassionate and evidence-based interventions to help them manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life. Through therapy, we work on understanding the underlying fears and compulsions driving their OCD behaviors. I offer cognitive-behavioral techniques such as exposure and response prevention to help them gradually confront and reduce their obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. Additionally, we focus on developing coping strategies, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness practices to manage anxiety and stress. The goal is to empower patients to regain control over their lives and engage in meaningful activities, despite their OCD symptoms, leading to greater freedom and well-being.

Dr. Pam Heilman
Psychologist, Psy.D., LCP
I completed the Behavioral Therapy Training Institute with the International OCD Foundation in 2023 and I have extensive experience working with clients who have OCD and related conditions. I frequently utilize Exposure and Response Prevention to help clients identify triggers and feared situations and then help them to gradually face these challenges. Part of this work also involves helping clients identify compulsions or "safety behaviors" that they have been using in an attempt to neutralize the anxiety. The goal is to begin facing feared situations without use of compulsions. This helps the brain to relearn that these situations can be faced and that anxiety will subside over time.

Bergen Counseling Collective
Counselor/Therapist, LCPC
The thoughts won't stop. You know they don't make sense, or at least part of you knows, but the anxiety is so intense that you do the ritual anyway. Check again. Wash again. Replay the thought until you're sure, except you're never really sure. People who don't have OCD don't understand how consuming it is, how much mental energy it takes, how exhausting it is to fight your own brain all day. We understand OCD and how to treat it effectively. That means evidence-based approaches, not just talk therapy, that help you break the cycle of obsession and compulsion and reclaim your life from the disorder. Telehealth throughout Illinois. BCBS PPO and Aetna accepted.

Juliette Grantham
Licensed Professional Counselor, MA, LPC
I'm Juliette Grantham, a psychoanalytic psychotherapist specializing in OCD.
Obsessive-compulsive difficulty can take over an enormous amount of a life: intrusive thoughts you find abhorrent and cannot stop having, rituals that must be completed in a particular way, checking and rechecking, reassurance you need to ask for again almost immediately, and the private exhaustion of arithmetic nobody else can see. Much of it is difficult to describe to the people closest to you, which tends to add shame to everything else.
I work psychoanalytically, which means we take up what the obsessions and compulsions are doing rather than only working to reduce them. They carry an unconscious logic worth understanding, frequently concerning responsibility, aggression, doubt, or contamination in senses well beyond the literal. Understood at that level, they tend to loosen their hold more durably than they do when managed from the outside. Some people whose compulsions are severely disruptive to daily functioning choose to do behavioral work concurrently, and that can sit alongside this without conflict.
If OCD has been taking up more of your life than you want it to, I would be glad to talk.
