Some signs that you may have an Anger Management issue are: You are constantly angry You are always on the defensive Every little annoyance makes you mad You become verbally or physically aggressive when angry You are unable to control your outbursts Among other techniques, our trained therapists will work with you, using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) strategies. These strategies will help you identify irrational, destructive thoughts or beliefs that are driving your anger and reframe them in a rational and positive way. Our goal is to help you recognize when you are becoming angry, take action to calm down and to manage situation differently. We do not want to eliminate your anger, as this is a normal and healthy human emotion, but to have you express your thoughts and feelings is a more positive and constructive way.

Seeking help is a powerful step to improving your quality of life. Talking to someone about whatever your concerns are is something that almost anyone can benefit from, but many people are afraid to reach out. If you are considering therapy or coaching, I applaud you, and I really do want to help you find what you need to feel POWERFUL and help you develop the tools to have peace in your life. I enjoy working with diverse clients, and have treated patients on the inpatient as well as outpatient basis. I began providing therapy in 1996, and have worked full time in several local hospitals before deciding to work full time in outpatient private practice. Though I work with many populations, I enjoy helping individuals with issues of trauma as well as working with couples. I work with all age ranges and have helped clients with a range of diagnosis. I use a variety of techniques, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR. I am also a Certified Hypnotist and a trained mediator.

Licensed Professional Counselor, Psy.D NCC LCPC CADC
Anger is a normal human emotion and at times can be a very appropriate response. Feeling anger in itself is not the problem. It is how we express it that can become problematic. and destructive. Anger management can assist the individual to identify their pattern of expression, identify their triggers, learn ways to appropriately respond and not react and look for strategies to resolve the situation without harm (emotional or physical) to themselves or others..

Northbrook, Illinois therapist: Michael Losoff, psychologist
Anger Management

Michael Losoff

Psychologist, PhD
Michael views anger as a powerful signal that often masks deeper vulnerabilities like hurt or fear, focusing on understanding its origins to foster genuine emotional regulation. Anger is frequently an "iceberg emotion," a visible reaction that protects more vulnerable feelings like grief, fear, or a sense of injustice. Drawing on over 35 years of experience, Michael helps clients move beyond simple impulse control to understand the relational and developmental roots of their frustration. By exploring the underlying triggers and the "unconscious scripts" that fuel outbursts, he assists individuals in transforming reactive anger into assertive, constructive communication. This approach doesn't just suppress the flame; it addresses the fuel, leading to more balanced relationships and a greater sense of internal calm.
