Emotional abuse is perhaps the least respected aspect of abuse, and one of the most damaging. It is the emotional abuse which tears a person down and makes them accept mistreatment from others. It's subtle, complicated, and easy to overlook. I do everything I can to support my clients in understanding what loving and safe relationships look like, so they can recognize when they're being mistreated. I have also supported people who realized they could be emotionally abusive towards others, and decided they wanted to become a steadier and more supportive partner. Everyone is capable of change, and everyone deserves to be in relationships where they feel safe.
