I have found that many of the women and gender non-conforming people I work with spend much of their lives focused on the needs of others around them, often at the cost of their own wants and needs. I love working with these clients to find their voice and begin to advocate for themselves in various areas of their life. I was trained in Feminist Therapy and aim to use a feminist and multicultural lens in all of the work that I do.
I particularly enjoy working with female-identified clients who benefit from a therapist with an understanding of social and other pressures that are specific to them.
Women often have multiple roles that create complexity in their lives. I work with women to explore their unique needs and regain a sense of themselves.
When treating women's issues, creating a safe and empathetic space for women to explore their unique experiences and concerns without judgment is essential in sessions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques can be employed to address specific cognitive distortions or negative thought patterns related to women's issues, such as imposter syndrome or body image concerns. Integrative therapy may incorporate elements of DBT, internal family systems, and somatic therapy to holistically address women's issues, considering the interplay of psychological, interpersonal, and cultural factors in the client's life.
As a therapist, I approach women's issues with empathy and understanding, integrating Narrative Therapy to help my clients rewrite their narratives and redefine their identities in a way that empowers them. Through Person-Centered Therapy, I create a nurturing and validating environment where women feel safe to explore their emotions and experiences without fear of judgment. Drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I guide my clients in embracing their thoughts and feelings while taking meaningful steps towards living a life that aligns with their values and aspirations.
