As a Christian therapist, I incorporate a faith-based therapy approach if the individual wishes. We can talk about how faith can be a resource to the healing that happens. I also work with all faiths. The client's faith needs are important to recovery.
I have a strong faith and, when invited, am willing to work with individuals to bring faith into the counseling process. Often, the faith someone has can lay a foundation for the stability they need to make the changes necessary.
Psychologist, Licensed Psychologist in NC, Authorized PsyPact Practitioner in 40 states
Growing up in a Christian home, I found that I needed to run away from those beliefs for many years. That is what it took to open my eyes to a relationship with God that honors every part of my life and excites me to explore my faith with a demand that it supports my science as a psychologist and integrates the models and theories I use in my practice. If a client wants a focus on Christianity, I am happy to take that focus. If not, I do approach our work with the belief that every aspect of our lives can work together for our good.
I work with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship or family issues and I offer faith-based Christian therapy in addition to traditional therapy. During our sessions, we will collaborate to create a plan for addressing them that helps you resolve such issues in a meaningful manner to restore functioning enabling and empowering you to move beyond your past. I practice from a Holistic perspective and commonly employ EMDR and other effective modalities with helping clients achieve balance and purpose in their lives and creative solutions to their problems. This includes exploring past issues and trauma that may be a factor presently.
