Mia Klassen

Licensed Professional Counsellor, MPCC #3875, CT #2438, LSCC
When your mind produces voices, visions, or beliefs that others can't see or hear, the world becomes confusing and isolating. Whether you're experiencing hallucinations, delusions, or disorganized thinking, you deserve care that treats you with dignity—not dismissal. I'll listen to your reality with empathy and understanding, honoring your experience while gently helping you distinguish what's helpful from what's harmful. Together, we'll work on grounding strategies, reality-testing skills, and managing symptoms so they don't control your life. You're not your diagnosis. With compassionate support, medication management coordination, and practical coping tools, stability and clarity are possible. You deserve to be heard and understood.

Victoria, British Columbia therapist: Lincoln Stoller, counselor/therapist
Schizophrenia

Lincoln Stoller

Counsellor/Therapist, PhD, CHt, CCPCP
The schizophrenia diagnosis is broad and my experience is with less extreme cases, dealing with people whose perspectives are less distorted and whose delusions are of the milder sort. These people are often stigmatized, confused, anxious, and distressed. I find these people are also sensitive, reactive, frustrated, and imaginative. I have a great deal of empathy for those conditions and I encourage people who have this experience to recognize it as a power they can use. These powers can provide insight if you can control them. I have not dealt with extreme cases of delusion, dissociation, and paranoia and, for those cases, I feel I have less to offer. Technically, I work with schizo-affective people most of whom are not diagnosed. The best guideline I can give you is that if you struggle with being sensitive, misunderstood, and ineffective in communication, consider how you can work these things into strengths. There is much to gain, and working with the right counselor will be of great help.

Moncton is New Brunswick's largest city and a bilingual hub for Atlantic Canada, officially bilingual with roughly a third of residents francophone, a mix that gives the city a distinctive dual cultural character and creates important considerations for language access in mental health services—many residents prefer therapy in their first language, and bilingual practitioners are an important asset in the local landscape. Université de Moncton is the largest French-language university outside Quebec and contributes trained mental health professionals and student mental health demand to the community. Horizon Health Network provides mental health services in English, and Vitalité Health Network serves the Francophone population. Common therapy concerns include bilingual and bicultural identity stress, student mental health, seasonal depression in long Atlantic winters, and the adjustment challenges of a growing city drawing young professionals from across the Maritime provinces.
