I started classical guitar when I was 10 and mountaineering at 13. I quit high school after 11th grade, and worked as a NASA astronomer before I finished college. I earned a physics PhD—almost being expelled for insubordination—and started writing business software as a consultant for IT departments at middle-sized businesses. While I was having adventures in the jungle, the arctic, the Caribbean, Mongolia, New Zealand, Europe, and Central America, I became a snowboarder, scuba diver, paraglider, and soar plane pilot. I been married twice, have two sons, built two houses, and written many books on therapy, growth, and development. Combining science with psychedelics, I became an EEG brain trainer and researcher, practitioner of hypnotic Past Life Regression, sensory deprivation meditation, ayahuasca, and hypnosis. Psychotherapy, which I previously found to be too self involved, finally seemed worth my attention, so I became a psychotherapist. Now I focus on opening doors to meaning, personal growth, and larger states of awareness. I think this is what I was always looking for. Are you interested?

Treatment Approach
- Biofeedback / Neurofeedback Teaches people to control body or brain activity using real-time monitoring. It’s often used for stress, anxiety, ADHD, and migraines.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
- Hypnotherapy Uses guided relaxation and focus to access the subconscious mind. It is often used for habits, anxiety, and pain management.
- Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
- Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
- Transpersonal Therapy Integrates spirituality and higher states of consciousness with psychology. It encourages growth beyond the individual self.
Approach Description: I look at all areas of your life, health, and history. I want to know your meaningful story, not necessarily the factually true one. I see our lives consisting of four interconnected rings: rationality, emotion, the subconscious, and our bodies. We cannot "know" them equally, but our health, ability, achievements, and futures depend on a growing awareness of them. I use talk, exercise, diet, brain training, dreams, trauma, childhood, hypnosis, altered states, and spirit. I build strength in your mind, heart, brain, and body. Optimal health and performance requires integration and effort. Embrace change, be curious, take risks: nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I work to enlighten people, whether this means working toward something you lack or desire. Call it mental health, coaching, training, education, or psychotherapy. Whether your needs apply to what's necessary, practical, existential, or divine, each layer builds on top of the other. Mostly I listen to your story which, like all good stories, will contain elements of myth and fiction. At least I hope it does because what you can make of yourself must take you beyond what's practical, and be greater than whatever you've been told to believe. You must make it up as you go along.
