Problematic sexual behaviors — including compulsive porn use — are rarely about sex itself. They are most often about pain, disconnection, shame, or a nervous system looking for relief. I work from a harm reduction, client-centered approach using CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-focused methods to understand what's underneath the behavior and actually address it. I do not work from a twelve-step or "sex addiction" framework — not because I dismiss your struggle, but because shame-based models tend to create more of the very thing driving the behavior in the first place.
