I have over 10 years of experience working with neurodiverse children, adolescents and adults, mainly though music therapy. I use music to help clients access creativity and express challenging experiences and difficult emotions, including those who are non-verbal.
I have experience working with autistic children, teens, and adults. I conceptualize autism under the neurodiversity umbrella and do not view autism itself as something that needs to be "fixed", but rather understood. I strive to support my autistic clients in feeling empowered in how to best support any sensory or social-related issues they may experience. I also support clients in identifying and supporting any anxious and/or depressive symptoms that may be the result of unidentified autism in a neurotypical dominant world.
Living with autism can involve a complex interplay of challenges, strengths, and unique experiences. Therapy offers individuals with autism the tools, support, and strategies they need to overcome challenges, build on their strengths, and achieve their full potential. Throughout our time together, you will improve your quality of life, enhance your independence, and thrive in all areas of life.
For individuals who have been formally diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), I equip them with the most effective Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to help them cope in their day-to-day life. These skills are drawn directly from the Neurodivergent DBT skills workbook. This approach, combined with meeting clients where they are, helps them manage overwhelming situations, sensory-related issues, and executive functioning difficulties. I look forward to working together to help you achieve your therapeutic goals!
