Licensed Professional Counselor, M.A., LPC, ATR-BC
I work with couples, partners, and families to assist in effective communication, trust issues, and work-life balance. I help couples in identifying listening skills and the areas they need to strengthen as well as awareness of ways to implement and engage in healthy responses to their spouse or partner.

Dr. Amy Hecht
Psychologist, PhD
I work with couples at all stages of their relationships, from those looking to deepen connection to those navigating significant strain or considering major decisions about the future. Relationships can be both deeply fulfilling and profoundly challenging, and many couples find themselves stuck in patterns of miscommunication, disconnection, or recurring conflict.
My approach is active, direct, and grounded in helping both partners better understand not only each other, but their own contributions to the dynamic. I focus on identifying patterns, improving communication, and fostering greater emotional awareness and accountability within the relationship.
I also draw from structured approaches, including discernment counseling when one partner feels uncertain about whether to stay or leave, creating space for thoughtful, intentional decision-making.
The goal is not simply to reduce conflict, but to help couples build more meaningful, resilient, and satisfying ways of relating—whether that leads to strengthening the relationship or gaining clarity about next steps.

Gottman method couples therapy is based on decades of research and thousands of couples. My practice utilizes evidence-based Gottman structure and guidance alongside specialized training in sexuality and relational intimacy. The most common issue couples come to therapy for is to improve their communication. Gottman method therapy therapy not only helps couples improve communication, but shows them how to navigate conflict, rebuild trust, and address concerns related to sex, desire, intimacy, and emotional closeness. Sessions have an interactive therapist and are grounded in respect, inclusivity, and an understanding that every relationship has unique needs, values, and definitions of connection. Whether couples are working through intimacy challenges, life transitions, differing desires, or communication difficulties, therapy focuses on fostering deeper understanding, safety, and connection in all aspects of the relationship.

Alan Brandis, Ph.D.
Psychologist, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist
Having worked with hundreds of couples over the last 40 years, I have developed a set of beliefs or ideas which, if adopted, help to ensure that a relationship will last. One of the most important is: Arguing helps nothing, so don't do it.
I like to say that I never met the person who started the fight! When two people argue, each of them believes that he or she is merely reacting to something the other one did or said. Neither one believes that they started the fight; but it started somehow, didn't it?
It is better to be close than it is to be “right.”
Blaming each other for the argument is counterproductive. So is trying to change the other person's opinion. Most couples who argue, argue about whose perception is "correct," whose way of doing something is the "right" way, and so on. The only possible outcome of these arguments is that someone will be "right" and someone will be "wrong." Do you know anyone who enjoys being wrong? Most people will fight tooth and nail to avoid being "wrong."
Commitment is the Foundation of the Therapy
Commitment implies that you are in the relationship "come Hell or high water," barring certain behaviors your partner might do such as having an affair (although I have seen a number of relationships recover from those, too). Unless each partner believes that the other one is committed, they will not feel safe to take risks in facing, addressing and working out the real, underlying issues that affect the relationship.
