Depression can be described as seeing the world while wearing grey covered glasses. When see our world through these lenses, it can affect our lives, mood and relationships. I work with clients to help firstly, understand how depression works and how they can begin to challenge those grey thoughts.
At Atlas Therapy many of our therapists specialize in supporting and treating both mild and severe depression whether diagnosed or undiagnosed. We help our clients to gain new perspectives on their lives, challenge negative thought patterns, and develop healthier coping mechanisms. Ecotherapy is one unique approach that we like to offer along with many others. We understand that no one approach works for everyone and depression can be both cyclical and unpredictable. We work to help you reach the life you envision for yourself.
I use a combination of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help alleviate symptoms of depression. With CBT we will focus on identifying negative thought patterns that maintain feelings of depression. I will work with you to help teach you how to indentify, challenge, and change your negative thinking. MI is combined with CBT to help you develop and work towards your personal goals.
As a social worker for over ten years, I have worked in addictions, sexual assault, hospital social work and private practice. Depression has been a prevalent theme in all of these areas. My work includes identifying themes throughout the course of our life that has led us to where we are at now.

Experiencing big emotional ups and downs is normal, but there can be times when it feels like the lows are getting longer, more frequent, and harder to deal with. Therapy should be a safe space where you feel comfortable sharing and exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with someone who offers you empathy, authenticity, and acceptance. I work collaboratively with clients to explore how feelings of depression show up in their lives, and to strengthen and develop strategies to minimize the impact they have on living the life you want to live.
