Depresive disorders come in many packaages, ranging from periodic, seasonal bouts of depresion to chronic, Major Depression diagnoses. Exogenous depression is considered to be a result of envirionmental/experiential forces, whereas, endogenous depression may be related to a genetic predisposition. Some depressions are a combination of both of these factors. Psychotherapy and medications are the usual course of treatment. However, diet, exercise, meditation, DBT, EMDR, as some examples, may also be of great benefit to those struggling with this sometimes debilitationg diagnosis.

"Like anxious thoughts, depressive thoughts can be a learned response to a stressful event or events. This is called emotional learning. We learn these things when we are under stress and the memory is encoded in the primitive part of the brain. The goal is to discover when and how this learning took place and then to use evidenced approaches to nullify these emotional learnings. The main approach we use is called Memory Reconsolidation or Coherence Therapy. We use this approach alongside modalities like EMDR, CBT, and Somatic Experiencing.
