Relational Psychotherapy

David A. Heilman

Psychologist, Psy.D.
When deciding to see a therapist, it can be extremely challenging to choose someone to work with. I hope to be there with you in therapy as you work to discover new levels self-understanding, compassion, and insight. Most individuals decide to start therapy after encountering emotional distress that has left them overwhelmed, and as though they have lost control of their life. I work collaboratively with my clients to find ways in which they are able to regain a sense of control, empowerment, and purpose in their lives. Important to our work will be the concept that our relationship, and the exploration of that relationship, will help you make discoveries about other important relationships in your life. Although this work can be challenging at times, it can lead to improvements in your social interactions, mood, and anxiety. While I have enjoyed working with a wide variety of individuals, I specialize in LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapy, ADHD, anxiety, depression, chronic shame, couples/relationship challenges, and non-traditional relationships. I am currently seeing new clients in my Dupont Circle office, and I look forward to answering any of your questions.

Relational Psychotherapy

Mike Jeffcoat

Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT
My work consists of two main features: Self-Understanding - through a in-depth analysis of who you are and identifying your inner wisdom and understanding of who you are, AND Self-Authoring - by untangling patterns, habits and beliefs that do not serve you, then helping you to align more wholly with who you are and who you desire to be. It can feel so frustrating when no matter how hard you try, you just keep ending up at the same spot. Let's look closer at the pattern and see what we can do to get you out of the loop. let's tap into your innate wisdom and ability to heal. Sometimes things happen in life that we cannot stand up and keep walking like we have in the past. I help my clients take a look at what it is that has them feeling stuck and unhappy, where that might be coming from and work on the root of the problem.

Hope I. Hills, Ph.D.

Psychologist, Licensed Psychologist in NC, Authorized PsyPact Practitioner in 40 states
I have been a licensed therapist since 1987 when I was a professor of Counseling Psychology at the University of Missouri. I've continued to help my clients learn to love and accept themselves, whether in individual or couples therapy, executives and their teams, or women in prison. I pay attention to Body, Mind, and Spirit as we work, as I believe we must recognize the interaction of all three. Clients comment that despite feeling safe with me, they feel challenged to face themselves.
