Dr. Genevieve Marcel - Houston Sex Therapy
Counselor/Therapist, PhD, LPC-Associate, CTP, CMMT, ABS
Sex therapy in my practice is for individuals who want to understand their sexual experience in a deeper and more integrated way. Many people seek this work when desire feels diminished, when sexuality no longer feels aligned with their inner life, or when sexual experience is accompanied by anxiety, conflict, or confusion.
Sexual concerns are approached as meaningful responses rather than defects. Rather than focusing narrowly on performance or technique, we explore what your sexual experience is responding to, protecting against, or expressing. In many cases, as understanding deepens, sexual symptoms shift or resolve as well.
I work with individuals navigating diminished desire, sexual shutdown, shame, avoidance, ambivalence, or tension between values, relationships, and embodied experience. The aim is not to bypass symptoms, but to understand them within the context of identity, agency, and meaning.
I do not offer advice or directives. This work is grounded in discernment rather than instruction, with clients remaining responsible for their choices and for how they live with them. Change tends to emerge through clarity and integration rather than prescription.
My approach integrates existential psychotherapy, phenomenology, and contemporary sexology, with attention to mindfulness and stoic perspectives where relevant. Sessions are relational and inquiry based, with careful attention to timing, dignity, and lived experience.
This approach is especially suited to individuals who want more than symptom management alone. Many find that as their experience becomes more intelligible and coherent, desire, intimacy, and sexual ease naturally shift.

Phillip McCulley
Marriage and Family Therapist, MA, LMFT, CSAT
I provide sex therapy for individuals and couples who want to improve intimacy, desire, communication, and overall sexual satisfaction. I have training in sex therapy, including education informed by Barry McCarthy’s work, which emphasizes healthy, pleasure focused sexuality rather than performance or pressure. My approach centers on helping people develop a more confident, connected, and realistic relationship with sex.
In therapy, we work to understand how stress, anxiety, shame, past experiences, medical concerns, or relationship dynamics may be affecting your sex life. This may include support with sexual dysfunction, desire differences, intimacy concerns, or difficulties communicating about sex. I help clients move away from goal driven or fear based sexual patterns and toward experiences that feel more relaxed, mutual, and fulfilling.
I also offer affirming sex therapy for LGBTQ individuals and couples, as well as those in non traditional or non monogamous relationships. Therapy provides a space to explore sexuality openly and respectfully, without judgment or assumptions, so that your sexual expression aligns with your values, comfort, and sense of connection.
