Healing the Heart After Infidelity: A Compassionate Approach to Rebuilding Trust Discovering an affair can feel like an earthquake, shattering the foundation of your relationship and leaving you in a landscape of pain, betrayal, and confusion. I am here to help you navigate this crisis using a powerful, integrated approach that combines Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). How I Can Help You: Create Immediate Safety (EFT): We will first focus on managing the trauma, reducing the emotional intensity, and establishing a safe, non-blaming space to process the shock and anger. Understand the "Why" Without Justification (EFT/IFS): We will look beyond the act of cheating to understand the underlying attachment wounds and unmet needs that left your relationship vulnerable. Heal Internal Parts (IFS): I will help both partners understand the "parts" of themselves that were involved—whether it's the protective, angry part of the betrayed, or the lonely, shame-filled part of the partner who acted out—fostering self-compassion and understanding. Rebuild Secure Attachment (EFT): Through guided, vulnerable conversations, we will shift from negative interaction patterns to new, secure patterns of responsiveness and emotional engagement. Infidelity doesn't have to be the end. With this combined approach, you can heal the profound emotional wounds, rebuild trust, and create a more resilient, intimate relationship than before. James Foley Sexual Misbehavior, Infidelity , Expert 31 Years Experience

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW-R, SOTS,
I use my 31 years specialist experience in the treatment of the distorted thinking that creates infidelity, to help my clients correct that distorted thinking , and stop once and for all the self deception that creates that self destructive cheating behavior. I have helped many men learn how the part of them that told them to engage in cheating was actually very irrational, not looking out for them, and that part was was ignoring the otherwise obvious fact that their life in objective terms was actually excellent, and that they had far more to lose than they told themselves at that time of that infidelity. There is often some non-sexual thinking or strategies that also have to be corrected to decrease chances of a relapse, many times the man in question have taken strategies or styles of seeing things from some other time or part of his life , typically childhood, and that worked well for other parts of their life, and applied them later to his family or marriage, wrongly, and created problems that don't need to exist, and this can create a subjective negative view of the situation , that does not reflect the reality, that they then try to "escape" from with that infidelity. I have great success with these men, and they learn how to be faithful, plus how to value their family/marriage, and how to be truly happy in what should be a happy situation.

Infidelity

Jason Powell

Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT, CST
Infidelity shatters trust at its foundation. The shock, grief, and confusion that follow can leave both partners questioning everything - their history, their future, and even themselves. But betrayal does not have to be the end of the relationship; it can become the beginning of a more honest and emotionally connected one. My work in infidelity repair focuses on rebuilding safety and understanding through structure, empathy, and accountability. We start by addressing the immediate pain and disorientation, then move toward clarity - uncovering what led to the breach and what each partner needs to heal. This process is not about blame; it’s about repair, responsibility, and choice. For the hurt partner, therapy offers validation and a path toward self-trust. For the partner who strayed, it offers the chance to understand the emotional landscape that made the betrayal possible and to learn how to show remorse in a way that heals, not defends. Together, we create a new relational foundation - one that can hold honesty, eroticism, and emotional safety at once. Whether you ultimately stay together or part ways, the goal is the same: clarity, integrity, and repair. Sessions are available online through HIPAA-compliant Zoom across twelve licensed states, and in person at 220 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.
