Psychologist, MProfPsych
I support women navigating the complex intersections of identity, relationships, body image, trauma, motherhood (or the decision not to have children), work stress, and systemic pressures. My approach is affirming and holistic, holding space for both the personal and the political—because your story doesn’t exist in a vacuum. You don’t have to carry it all alone.

Sydney, New South Wales therapist: Irene Valis, registered psychotherapist
Women's Issues

Irene Valis

Registered Psychotherapist, PACFA certified Gestalt therapist, Counsellor, Life Coach
I dedicate my practice to serving fellow women in navigating life, relationships and the world at large in these modern times. I support women experiencing challenges such as shame, low self-esteem, body issues, insecurity, inadequacy, anger, grief as well as peri-menopausal/menopausal symptoms. Together we explore what it means to be a woman in a patriarchal society and begin to undo conditioning and false beliefs that we have inherited that create and exacerbate these conditions. This is a rebirth and reclamation of your authentic truth and your personal power.

Marianna Trezza -The Growing mindset

Counsellor/Therapist, MA (Hons), Adv Dip. Counsel. & Psychoth.,Dip. Hypnoth., X-Cultural Adaptation Coun. Reg. BACP 572613
Many women spend years adapting to expectations, responsibilities and roles that slowly take them further away from themselves. Over time, this can lead to emotional exhaustion, chronic stress, anxiety, people pleasing, loss of identity or the feeling of constantly having to hold everything together for everyone else. For women living abroad, these pressures are often intensified by the emotional complexity of living between cultures, languages and different versions of oneself. Many of the women I support are highly empathic, capable and caring toward others, while internally feeling disconnected from their own needs, rhythm, voice or sense of belonging. My work offers a warm, reflective and holistic space to explore emotional wellbeing, nervous system regulation, identity, self-worth, belonging and authenticity. I integrate psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, EFT, embodiment, lifestyle medicine, reflective dialogue and nature-based approaches to support women in reconnecting with themselves in a gentler, more grounded and sustainable way.

Wonderful Mess

Counsellor/Therapist, Master of Social Work, Diploma of Counselling
I have become a more and more assertive feminist over the past 4 years, but I have always been aware of how different it is to be a woman in this society. I couldn't play soccer when I was young, not because my parents didn't let me, but because no other girl would play with me, because it was not "girly to play soccer". I was told I "looked too young" for a job when I was 25 - a job that was offered to a 23yo man. But then, more "serious" things happened around me. My friends started having kids and some were treated horrendously by health professionals. The pressure on their shoulders from the very first moment they said they were pregnant: everyone has had something to say about what they did or didn't do, what they are, they way they have been raising their kids. Everything, everything that we women do or don't do is judged by society. Whether we don't want to have children, have children at a "younger or older age", have "one child only". The worst thing, that really breaks my heart, is that this patriarcal society has managed to create conflicts between us women, while I really believe that we should all stand together and support each other. Acknowledge each other and help each other in our own battles. This is my biggest battle as a counsellor: help as many women as I can to realise how much of a warrior they are, in a world where every day is a battle when you have a uterus.
