Gaye Mallinson - Somatic Psychotherapies
Counsellor/Therapist, B.Soc.Ser. (Couns) Dist, Dip. Couns, Trauma Informed Yoga Cert, Pranayama Cert, Nidra Cert
I work primarily from a Rogerian or Person-Centred Therapy (PCT) approach using a conversational style listening patiently to you, always with empathy, genuineness and without judgement, to help find the solutions you desire for your life whilst adjusting my techniques to fit your needs within each session.
Due to my background in restorative justice, family violence, sexual abuse and mental health, I have a good understanding of sexual abuse and violence and how they impact the person experiencing them as well as the person using those behaviours. I am able to utilise a psycho-educational approach to help you understand your inner feelings and experiences, and to learn practical strategies for greater sense of safety in the world and coping skills. I can also utilise specific somatic (mind/body) therapy techniques within the therapy session to support healing of the underlying trauma of your experiences, without the need to discuss the details of that trauma. These gentle but effective techniques create a new positive sense of self, leaving often the carried sense of shame and guilt behind.
My aim is to assist you with your difficulties to restore balance, happiness and inner peace (using the various techniques of 'talk therapy' and somatic (mind/body) healing methods) along with offering practical strategies that may be useful where suitable and desired by you. Whatever you are going through, know that there is hope - Let me help you find that hope.

Have you experienced sexual abuse? Having a supportive, confidential and trusted space to open up about this painful (and sometimes confusing) experience is fundamental to being able to process and move on from the abuse. Whether it's historical or something that happened recently, I support my clients to make sense of their experience and story so they can process what happened in a healthy way. Book a free 15 minute phone consult via my website to discuss more.
