Wonderful Mess

Counsellor/Therapist, Master of Social Work, Diploma of Counselling
I am passionate about helping people because of my own story of going through hell and back. Over the past 9 years, I have gone from not believing mental health was a thing, to severe burnout due to workplace bullying, then a car accident, to educating myself on mental health to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I now see it as my duty to give back, to help others going through what life throws at them. Because, I swear to you, things can get better. I sincerely believe that we all need counselling at some point (or several points) in our lives. I am here to tell you that you are not alone. I will hold you hand while you are working through whatever is causing you to struggle, and to uncover all these strengths within you that you may not even know you have.

John Castleford

Registered Psychotherapist, MA, MIAEB, FRAI
I have been a psychotherapist and mental health coach for many years, and I now specialise almost exclusively in helping those with, or recovering from, cancer. It's a debilitating disease that I have experienced twice, so I know at first hand the effect it can have on the quality of life and particularly how it makes us feel -- either as a reaction to being diagnosed and undergoing treatment, or when in remission as a survivor, the fear of it recurring. I can also help family members and close friends, who often feel helpless bystanders. We have all experienced our feelings dominating what we think, and what we do. But heightened emotions stop us thinking clearly. And that can often lead us to feel out of control. Unlike many therapists, I do not believe that the adverse effect on our thinking and our behaviour from a life-changing event like cancer is a dysfunctional flaw or a disorder that needs treatment. Typical reactions to cancer --anxiety, fear, stress and low mood -- are part of life. Why cancer often triggers is a range of reactions: shock and denial; Shock and denial that it is happening. Coping with fear, anxiety and panic can be difficult, particularly as mood swings may frequently change. Feelings of sadness may range from low moof to extreme depression. Ultimately we know, at a rational level, that we are mortal. But we also have we also have a very strong instinct to survive. We want to live. And enjoy life. Cancer is not the death sentence it once was. I can help you come to terms with the reality as well as the inevitable perceptions that may influence you. And I can help you to flourish, rather than just cope and survive.

Sudeva Hawkes

Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Clinical Counsellor, B.Couns., MNCPS Accred. , PACFA Reg.
I work with people from every walk of life, from successful business managers to struggling students, helping them to navigate stress, anxiety, and life’s many challenges. My approach is friendly, humorous and empathetic. Online I see clients from all over the world- especially Australia, the UK and Ireland. I have developed my therapeutic style and skills over many years. I am especially well versed in shock and developmental trauma, relationship and family therapy, workplace stress and anxiety . My trauma work is based on releasing painful held memories through Somatic Experiencing. The good news is that you don't have to delve into old wounds or relive past events. Trauma is held in the body and it is through the body that it can be released. My wife Adima is also available for spiritual therapy and as a Gene Keys Guide and can be contacted through our website. The trust clients have displayed in me over the years has deepened my compassion and my insight and I am easy to connect with face to face or online. My aim is to present you with the tools you need to heal the things that trouble you and to connect more deeply within yourself; also to grow and develop an intimate, conscious and nourishing connection with the world around you. People often tell me they can never switch off the internal chatter and noise in their minds. That's a disturbance you don't have to live with. We can open the space for peace, simplicity and the freedom to relax when you need to. My way of working is singular, joining as it does clinical experience and the healing of trauma with meditation and mindfulness. I combine them to give my clients something special, the opportunity to find their own sense of direction in the company of a supportive ally, eliminating that which is old and no longer relevant while developing new strengths. My wish is to serve and support you in your authentic flowering, rather than to 'fix' you according to the expectations of conventional therapy. I appreciate connecting with people from every kind of background. I grew up in London and have travelled to many places in Europe, India and Asia. Until recently, I lived and worked in Australia and now I have returned to create a home and a practice in Devon the UK. In addition to Somatic Experiencing, I am inspired and fascinated by Internal Family Systems therapy and have recently embarked on a study of the Gene Keys. I look forward to working with you.

Counsellor/Therapist, Counsellor, MA, ACA-L3
I have over 15 years of experience working with multicultural populations, in different countries such as the USA and Lebanon. I offer therapy in both English and Arabic. I can also hold a conversation in French. I support at-risk youth, displaced families, and those facing relationship problems. I work with mood disorders and different types of trauma, created by bullying and domestic violence. I offer a client-centred and multicultural approach in therapy. I emphasise accepting the uniqueness of each individual while also working with the intricate impact of culture on self- awareness, development and overall well-being. In addition to the wide range of therapeutic techniques I use, I offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am also an animal lover and believe in integrating animals into therapy, when appropriate, as this type of therapy can provide soothing, healing and comfort for individual clients. I view the process of counselling as a delicate and enriching experience, both for my clients as well as for myself as a counsellor.
