As a psychotherapist, couple and family therapist, ecotherapist and creative arts therapist, I work with adults, couples and groups at diverse stages of life. My work is systemic in that I see individuals as impacted by, and interconnected within, larger networks of relationships and social systems. The values underlying my practice are rooted in a long-term dedication to social justice, my belief in creativity as a healing force, and my love and respect for the natural world. Seeking help takes courage, and no one approach works for everyone. I work collaboratively, and tailor my approach to each unique person.

- Contemplative Psychotherapy Combines mindfulness and meditation practices with modern psychology. It encourages awareness and compassion as part of the healing process.
- Drama Therapy Uses role-play, storytelling, and theater techniques to explore problems and emotions. It helps people practice new ways of relating to others.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
- Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
- Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
- Hakomi Method A mindfulness-based approach that helps clients notice unconscious patterns in their body and mind. It emphasizes compassion and non-judgment.
- Imago Relationship Therapy Helps couples understand how childhood experiences influence adult relationships. It teaches communication techniques to deepen connection.
- Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
- Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: My aim is to create a secure therapeutic relationship with all my clients. I am an empathic listener, and am trained to pay close attention to the present moment experience of each individual, as well as to relational and psychological dynamics. Seeking help takes courage, and no one approach works for everyone. I listen carefully, and work collaboratively with clients to meet the unique needs of each individual, couple or family. At times I work with a more open-ended process, and at times my approach is more structured. My lens as a therapist is informed by attachment theory, a respect for the natural intelligence of emotions and the body, and an understanding of trauma and human development. My background includes advanced training in the Hakomi Method of Mindfulness-Based Somatic Therapy, Family Systems therapy, Emotion Focused Couple's Therapy, and diverse methods of Creative Arts Therapy and dramatic play. I draw primarily from humanistic, psychodynamic and systemic frameworks, but I also integrate cognitive behavioural or solution-focused approaches as needed.

My work as a therapist is informed by attachment theory, a respect for the natural intelligence of emotions and the body, and an understanding of trauma and human development. My background includes advanced training in Family Systems, EFT Couple Therapy, Ecotherapy, Hakomi, and Drama Therapy. I specialize in working with climate distress and eco-anxiety.
I believe that, given the right support, each individual has the wisdom and resources within them to move towards positive change and wholeness. I welcome clients of all genders, sexual orientations, ages and cultural backgrounds, as well as couples and families in traditional and non-traditional configurations.
Since 2002, I have been a facilitator of the The Work that Reconnects, a creative group process based on the principles of systems theory, eco-psychology, deep ecology, Engaged Buddhism, and social justice. In Montreal as well as more widely, I offer community workshops and mentor emerging facilitators in this work. I was a longtime student of the late Joanna Macy, who was the root teacher of this method. In these uncertain times, my interest is specifically in facilitating supportive processes to prevent burnout, and to contribute to building vibrant social movements of solidarity and resilience.
