Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: I qualified in 2008, after a 1 year NHS clinical placement and MSc in Psychological Therapy accredited by the British Psychological Society. I worked as a CBT Therapist in the NHS, helping many clients return to work after mental health absences, and I have 9 years experience of providing counselling for a UK charity. I have worked with clients from all over the world, from many different cultures and backgrounds. I'm experienced in providing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy), mindfulness, person-centred counselling, Compassion Focused Therapy and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Please click on my specialities for further information. I attend regular Continuing Professional Development events. I’m a member of the BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies) and the British Psychological Society, and I have a recent DBS (criminal record check) and professional insurance. I trained in clinical supervision at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience Kings College London (2010-11), and I also completed an accredited course in clinical supervision in 2023 which gives eligibility to join the BPS Register of Applied Psychology Practice Clinical Supervisors (RAPPS). I'm working towards accreditation in Gender, Sexuality & Relationship Diversities.
