Treatment Approach
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
- Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
- Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
- Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
Approach Description: I tailor my therapeutic approach to your interests, needs, and goals.
Some clients come in wanting more direction and a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-type method. With this approach, it will be like learning a new skill. I will use psychoeducation to teach you the basics of how to connect your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. There are handouts and exercises that are assigned each week to practice. CBT is an evidence-based and highly studied therapy method which can provide relief from symptoms such as depression or anxiety.
A psychodynamic approach is less directive and follows whatever you bring to session that week. I will help you connect your past experiences, often from childhood, to your current situation. If you are interested in being introspective and gaining insight into your unconscious mind, this is an approach that would fit you well.
I conduct a comprehensive biopsychosocial intake and work with your to develop treatment goals, and from there we decide together what approach is most ideal for you.

If you're having relationship problems, feelings of anxiety, trouble concentrating, feeling down or depressed, experiencing loneliness, having trouble feeling connected to a purpose or direction, drinking or smoking more than you'd like, I'm here to listen and support you.
I use a combination of several therapeutic techniques but always approach sessions from a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach. I tailor my sessions to your own needs and interests.
I do generally enjoy bringing in supplementary materials to sessions, as I find that the old adage, “knowledge is power” is incredibly relevant to mental health. The more that you can understand about yourself, the more equipped you will be on the path towards healing, change, and restoration.
I use worksheets, workbooks, videos, and articles, but I also venture out into pop culture, news stories, and music as ways to connect and learn about oneself.
I also enjoy using humor when appropriate to laugh at some of life’s larger absurdities.
