People are often more complex than the diagnoses, labels, or presenting problems that bring them to therapy. While words like anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or low self-esteem may describe part of your experience, they rarely tell the whole story of who you are, what you have been through, or what your struggles mean to you.
People come to therapy for many different reasons. Some arrive with a clear understanding of what they're struggling with, while others find it harder to put their experience into words. You may be navigating relationship difficulties, a major life transition, questions around identity, overwhelming emotions, or simply a sense that something doesn't feel quite right.
My approach focuses on understanding you as a person rather than as a problem to be solved. Together, we can explore your experiences, emotions, relationships, and patterns with curiosity and compassion, developing a deeper understanding of what may be contributing to your difficulties.
Alongside this exploration, I also believe that insight alone is often not enough. While understanding ourselves can be a powerful starting point, meaningful and lasting change often involves finding new ways of relating to ourselves, navigating emotions, communicating our needs, setting boundaries, and responding differently to the challenges we face. My aim is to support both understanding and change, helping you build a more compassionate relationship with yourself and move towards a life that feels more authentic, connected, and fulfilling.

Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
- Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
- Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: My approach is primarily rooted in Person-Centred Experiential Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). At the heart of my work is the belief that people have an inherent capacity for growth when they feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or diagnoses, I aim to understand your experiences within the wider context of your life, relationships, environment, and personal history.
I work collaboratively and at a pace that feels manageable, recognising that emotional difficulties often develop for understandable reasons and deserve curiosity rather than judgement. Together, we may explore patterns in your relationships, the ways you relate to yourself, difficult emotions, past experiences, and the meanings you have made of them over time.
My aim however is not only to help you gain insight into your experiences, but to support meaningful and sustainable change beyond the therapy room. I believe that understanding ourselves can be a powerful starting point, but lasting change often involves finding new ways of relating to ourselves, navigating emotions, communicating our needs, and responding differently to life's challenges.
I also recognise that emotional experiences are often felt physically as well as emotionally. Where helpful, we may work experientially and somatically, paying attention to bodily sensations such as tension, restlessness, fatigue, numbness, or emotional shutdown. Exploring these experiences can help us better understand how your nervous system has adapted to stress, relationships, and significant life events, and may offer important insights that are not always accessible through words alone.
Alongside deeper emotional exploration, I integrate practical support where appropriate, including emotional regulation strategies, communication skills, boundary-setting, and coping with emotional overwhelm.
My work is informed by trauma-sensitive practice, neurodiversity and LGBTQ+ affirmative practice. Above all, I aim to create a therapeutic space that feels safe, collaborative, and responsive to your individual needs, where both understanding and meaningful change can emerge.
