My approach to therapy is rooted in a simple belief: no two people experience life the same way, so therapy shouldn’t look the same for everyone. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with a background in education and school counseling, I bring years of experience working with individuals, children, and families, along with an understanding of how our early experiences, relationships, and environments shape who we become.
The name Poplar Belief is a play on the phrase “popular belief.” So much of what we believe about ourselves, our relationships, and the world comes from things we’ve learned or accepted as truth, often without questioning them. But just because a belief is familiar doesn’t mean it’s serving us.
That’s the heart of my work. I take a person centered, collaborative approach that creates space for clients to feel heard, while also challenging the beliefs and patterns that may be keeping them stuck. My goal is not to tell you who to become, but to help you discover what’s possible when you begin questioning what you’ve always believed to be true.

- Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
- Christian Counseling Blends psychological practices with Christian values and scripture. It provides faith-based support for life challenges and spiritual growth.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
- Sandplay Therapy Uses sand trays and miniature figures to allow symbolic expression. It is especially helpful for children and trauma survivors.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.

At Poplar Belief Therapy, we believe that looking like you have it all together doesn’t necessarily mean you feel that way.
We are a Houston based counseling practice providing personalized, trauma informed therapy for individuals. While we specialize in helping high functioning professionals navigate anxiety, our work extends to people of all ages navigating life’s challenges.
We believe therapy should go beyond simply talking about what’s wrong.
Our approach is collaborative, practical, and focused on meaningful change. We recognize that emotional struggles aren’t always resolved through insight alone. Sometimes you understand exactly why you respond the way you do, yet still find yourself repeating the same patterns.
Our philosophy is simple: Therapy should help you do more than understand yourself. It should help you experience life differently.
If you’re ready to explore a different approach to therapy, we invite you to schedule a consultation to see how we can help.
