Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: I believe that meaningful change begins with understanding, not judgment. Many of the challenges we experience are not character flaws. They are survival patterns that once helped us cope. Together, we'll explore what shaped those patterns, how they may be affecting your life today, and what it looks like to move beyond them. My approach is compassionate, trauma-informed, and tailored to your unique experiences. I integrate evidence-based practices with practical tools to help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and nervous system responses. As your awareness grows, so does your ability to respond differently, rather than react automatically. Communication is an important part of my work because our relationships are shaped not only by what we say, but by what we have learned feels safe to say. If you find yourself staying quiet, overexplaining, avoiding conflict, or struggling to express your needs, we will explore the experiences that shaped those patterns. As you build greater self-awareness and self-trust, communication becomes more authentic, confident, and connected. Together, we will strengthen emotional regulation, establish healthy boundaries, build resilience, and reconnect with the person you are beneath the expectations, roles, and survival strategies you have carried for so long. My goal is not simply to help you feel better. It is to help you understand yourself more deeply, develop practical skills for everyday life, and create lasting change so you can move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional well-being. I strive to create a space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered to become your most authentic self. Healing is not about becoming someone different. It is about returning to the person you have always been.

Therapy Sessions Kamini Wood Practice Description
There are times in life when you can feel like you've lost yourself. Maybe you've spent years putting everyone else's needs first. Maybe you're constantly overthinking, second-guessing yourself, or feeling emotionally exhausted. You may be navigating anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, people-pleasing, relationship challenges, or trying to heal from narcissistic or emotional abuse. Or perhaps you're finding yourself stuck in the same conversations, unable to express what you really need, or feeling like your voice has gotten lost along the way. You don't have to figure it out alone. I provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you can slow down, make sense of what you're experiencing, and reconnect with the person you are beneath the stress, survival patterns, and expectations you've carried for so long. My approach is trauma-informed, evidence-based, and personalized to your unique experiences. Together, we'll explore the patterns that keep you feeling stuck, strengthen emotional resilience, improve communication, establish healthy boundaries, and rebuild the self-trust that often gets lost through difficult relationships and life experiences. Communication is at the heart of so much of our well-being. Whether you struggle to speak up, avoid conflict, over-explain yourself, or feel unheard in your relationships, we'll work to understand the patterns beneath those experiences. As you build greater emotional awareness and self-trust, communication becomes less about finding the "right words" and more about expressing yourself with confidence, clarity, and authenticity. I work with adults, teens, parents, and professionals facing challenges including: Anxiety and chronic stress Burnout and perfectionism People-pleasing and difficulty setting boundaries Low self-worth and identity loss Narcissistic abuse recovery and high-conflict relationships Codependency and relationship patterns Communication challenges and conflict resolution Emotional regulation Parenting and family dynamics Life transitions and personal growth My goal isn't to "fix" you. It's to help you better understand yourself, reconnect with your strengths, and create meaningful, lasting change. Healing isn't about becoming someone different. It's about returning to yourself. Clients often tell me they leave sessions feeling understood, grounded, and more confident in trusting themselves. They gain practical tools they can apply immediately while also doing the deeper work of healing the patterns that no longer serve them. If you're ready to stop simply surviving and begin living with greater clarity, confidence, healthier relationships, and a stronger connection to your authentic voice, I'd be honored to support you on that journey.
