Treatment Approach

  • Adlerian Therapy Focuses on understanding a person’s sense of belonging and purpose. It helps people overcome feelings of inferiority and create healthier relationships.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.

I am the owner/psychotherapist of Counseling & Educational Center, LLC. I have an extensive experience in multicultural counseling and have worked with a variety of cultural and ethnic groups. I have been in the mental health private practice for about 10 years, and saw a desperate need for services to people of color,diverse ethnic groups such as African-American females and adolescents. I practice a holistic approach to therapy and as well as in my personal life. I believe that our bodies are interconnected to the broader community and world we live in. I emphasize finding a peaceful co-existence in our world community. I believe in a holistic approach to healing that incorporates mind, body, and spirit. My experience and expertise as a mental health provider will guide you through a variety of therapeutic approaches such as cognitive-behavioral techniques, and strength-based strategies that will enable you to heal and grow. One of my practice specialties is working with African American females who often feel overwhelmed through the multiple roles, responsibilities, and expectations of daily life. My experience and expertise provides a culturally-sensitive therapeutic approach that the inter-personal, as well as external factors of stress. We offer individual, groups, workshops and seminars that will be beneficial to the healing.
