Treatment Approach
- Adlerian Therapy Focuses on understanding a person’s sense of belonging and purpose. It helps people overcome feelings of inferiority and create healthier relationships.
- Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
- Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.

Taya Larenkova Sander, MS, NCC, LAPC, RPT is a counselor with Atlanta Child and Family Therapy where she provides expressive art therapy and counseling to individuals, children, and families who are struggling with Asperger's syndrome, ADHD, impulse control, anxiety disorders, and depression/affective disorders. She helps children with stress management, anger management, aggressive or withdrawn behavior, social skills and learning difficulties. She can help your family with issues such as immigration, adoption, attachment and bonding, abuse and trauma, grief and divorce, excessively controlling behavior and family conflict.
Our work with families is based on 5:1 ratio, which means that every 6th session is devoted to parent consultation. Parent consultation allows us full parental involvement into children's therapy. Parent consultations are devoted to coaching parents to use new ways to approach their children, discuss children's progress, and reevaluate/design new therapeutic goals.
