I recognize being a nonconformist in any way, comes with challenges. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community I understand first hand the things we too commonly encounter. Despite the challenges, I recognize the power and beauty inherent in us all. When we fully embrace and embody our most authentic selves we find freedom from the expectations of others. Being on my own similar journey, I believe I am uniquely equipped to help you thrive while negotiating all life's many changes and challenges.

Treatment Approach

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) Helps clients challenge and replace irrational beliefs. It is an action-oriented approach for lasting change.
Approach Description: I use a person-centered approach with an existential orientation, grounded in the belief that people naturally seek meaning and purpose in their lives, relationships, work, and experiences. Meaningful connections and a sense of purpose are important to our emotional well-being, and when these are lacking, we may experience unhappiness, anxiety, depression, feeling overwhelmed, or unhealthy patterns of coping. Alongside an existential perspective, I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches and techniques, allowing me to tailor treatment to each client’s needs and goals

Wyatt Okeefe Practice Description
I am highly interactive in my sessions and bring respect, humor, kindness, honesty, and compassion to my work, along with a genuine desire to help clients reach their personal and life goals. My therapeutic style is flexible and responsive, allowing me to adapt our work to each client’s needs, personality, and circumstances. I also have extensive experience providing both telephone and video-based therapy. Much of my work focuses on adults experiencing significant life changes and transitions, including gender identity and expression, physical, social, and emotional changes, coming out, moving from student life into adulthood, marriage and divorce, career changes, relocation, retirement, and other major shifts in identity and direction. I recognize that even positive changes can bring stress and uncertainty and may trigger old patterns or coping strategies that are no longer helpful. An important part of my work is helping clients recognize what may be getting triggered by current circumstances, understand where those patterns come from, and develop healthier and more effective ways of responding. My goal is not only to help clients manage the challenges they are facing today, but also to develop skills and self-awareness that can serve them through future changes and challenges. I also welcome clients in nontraditional relationship structures, including consensual non-monogamous and polyamorous relationships, and consider myself kink- and BDSM-friendly. My practice is sex-positive, affirming, and respectful of the diverse ways adults choose to build relationships and live their lives.
