Philadelphia, Pennsylvania therapist: Philadelphia Couples Therapy, psychologist
Men's Issues

Philadelphia Couples Therapy

Psychologist, PsyD
In many societies and cultures, men have been conditioned to believe that voicing or showing their emotions equates to a lack of control or power. In other words, men have come to expect that when they authentically display their emotions, they must be weak or something must be “wrong.” Largely, this is due to very real social pressures and repercussions where boys, teens, and adult men are shamed by being bullied, targeted, or physically hurt. As such, these instances can lead to some men feeling as though they are less masculline or are not fulfilling their expected gender role. Therefore, it is crucial to understand that the way men operate is inherently different from women, not because of their gender, but because their behaviors are a byproduct of a system that has reinforced oftentimes ineffective and/or damaging strategies of emotional display to combat real or imagined shame (i.e., physical violence, aggression, name-calling, shutting down, etc.). Instead, what we hope to provide at PCT is a new space in which men are able to safely explore themselves without fear of judgment. Thus, leading to the understanding that a man’s emotional responses to internal and external experiences are a human process, not one that is solely based on gender or gender role expectations. More often than not, when men enter therapy, much of the work centers around learning how and why they learned to cope with difficult thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Most importantly, though, men are given a space to authentically “be” in a way that society does not always permit. They are able to speak without fear of judgment and think with a renowned sense of emotional awareness. It is this process that ultimately brings men the most fulfillment in their relationships. When we teach men that they are allowed to feel and communicate the emotions that are inherent to every human being, we give them the tools to see a world that they did not previously have access to. In other words, therapy gives men the permission to be the fullest version of themselves for themselves and for those around them.

South Ogden, Utah therapist: Jordan Dye - Prepared Acceptance, licensed clinical social worker
Men's Issues

Jordan Dye - Prepared Acceptance

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, EMT
In many high-pressure professions, the traditional standard for men’s issues is to remain stoic, silent, and self-reliant, regardless of the cost. This "armor" is often necessary for the job, but it can become a barrier to genuine connection and mental clarity in your personal life. Having served in the National Guard and worked as an EMT, I understand the unique pressure men feel to be the provider and the protector while suppressing their own exhaustion or anxiety. My approach is direct and collaborative, providing a space where we skip the fluff and get to the root of the challenges you’re facing. We work to refine your strengths so that you can lead and serve effectively without losing your sense of self or your relationships in the process.

Cincinnati, Ohio therapist: Psychworks Clinic, psychologist
Men's Issues

Psychworks Clinic

Psychologist, PHD
At PsychWorks Clinic, we recognize that many men are taught to be strong, self-reliant, and in control, often at the expense of their emotional well-being. We create space for men to talk openly about the pressures they face, the emotions they’ve been told to suppress, and the relationships they want to strengthen. Our work helps men navigate anger, stress, identity, and vulnerability through approaches like CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing — always with compassion and cultural understanding. Whether it’s learning to manage emotions, improve communication, or redefine strength, we help men build healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT
Men are at once simpler and more complicated than we seem. We're as bound by gender stereotypes as any other breed of human, but we're often given fewer tools to figure out how to deal with them. Where does the worth and identity of a man come from? What makes him who he is? Are a man's values that much different from someone else's? As far as I know, there isn't a single spokesman for all of "Manhood," which means we'll have to figure out the answer to these questions together. Let's do it!

Being men are more "permitted" by our toxic culture to act out sexually... than to cry, to ask for help, to say "I don't know", to say they are "stuck", or admit defeat, I have many clients appear in sexual misbehavior treatment who seem to have been "acting out" their feelings sexually, under the behavior are feelings that they are not "permitted" by our culture to talk out verbally. If you would like an insightful and skilled clinician to help you, or your partner, peel the layers of the onion and figure out a way to process the issue and end the acting out of these feeling and have the feelings talked out, then give me a call.

It is not uncommon for those of us who have been instilled with the expectation that to be vulnerable is, to some degree, a reflection of weakness. However, to be human is to be inherently vulnerable and the best we can do is to accept this within ourselves and others so that we can continue in our journey toward living a fulfilling life.

Therapy for Men: Move From Survival to Connection Are you tired of feeling like you have to "tough it out," manage everything alone, or live in a constant state of high-pressure? Many men struggle with hidden burnout, anger, or feeling disconnected in their relationships. As a therapist specialized in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and IFS (Internal Family Systems), I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to help you break free from these cycles. With IFS, we will map out your "internal team"—the part that acts tough, the part that shuts down, or the inner critic—and learn to lead from a calmer, more confident place. With EFT, we will identify the emotional triggers and patterns that leave you feeling isolated or misunderstood, helping you build secure, fulfilling connections with your partner and family. Together, we’ll move beyond simply "fixing problems" to understanding the emotions underneath, helping you redefine strength as authentic, grounded, and present. Take the first step toward a more balanced life—reach out today.
