Relational Psychotherapy

Christopher Jason Pope

Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC
Hi there! I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 22 years of professional experience working as a mental health clinician in many areas throughout the field of mental health counseling, therapy, and other human services-related fields. I am currently licensed and/or have been licensed in Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Mississippi. With the new multi-state Counseling Compact set to go live in 2024, I will have the ability to provide care to clients in all states who are a part of that compact, both insured and private pay. My fundamental approach is through the lens of existential philosophy with a solution-focused approach and a strong emphasis on values as a driving factor with respect to our daily behaviors and decision-making processes. Therefore, I consider a holistic approach to life challenges and maladaptive/problematic behaviors when considering the various modalities at my disposal including solution-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, existential therapy, narrative therapy, reality therapy, family systems therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy, positive psychology, sports psychology, industrial psychology, and holistic/whole body/wellness therapy approaches. I have experience in helping clients/couples with relationship issues, communication, establishing and maintaining deep connection & intimacy, finding purpose & meaning, learning mindfulness skills, learning coping skills for depression & anxiety, learning stress reduction techniques, improving motivation, self-esteem, self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth. I partner (I'm not the expert on your life, YOU are!) with my clients to create an open and safe environment to hold a space for you where thoughts, emotions, issues, challenges, and problems can be shared without fear of judgment. I simply help you to regain agency over your life, and help you become more autonomous & empowered in order for you to make solid choices and decisions that are aligned with your core values and beliefs. In doing that, you are able to live into the answers to the questions regarding the various challenges you face in life. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling joyful life and to take the first steps towards meaningful change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey, instilling autonomy in you so you are confident in your own ability to face life and its many challenges. I can say without knowing you that I believe in you because we are all human, and I believe we are all capable of positive change and creating the life we value and envision. Life is always about the journey, not the destination. We never stop learning. Life is also the teacher. It has a lot to teach us, and there is always much to learn. Each day is a gift and another chance to do that very thing. So I want you to start this day with hope and a belief in yourself. As long as you have a willingness to make changes, and a commitment to the process and of doing the work that needs to be done, you will find success. Best of luck to you on this journey, and many blessings in the coming days.

Alexandria, Virginia therapist: Sound Mind Sound Body LLC, psychologist
Relational Psychotherapy

Sound Mind Sound Body LLC

Psychologist, MPsy, PsyD
The concept of Sound Mind Sound Body LLC is based on an Ancient Greek proverb that in order to be truly healthy, one must be healthy in both mind and body-if there is an imbalance, there is less fulfillment in one’s life. My goal is to help you to achieve that balance. There is an obvious emphasis in attaining physical health, and too often, there is less emphasis on the importance of mental health. In particular, how mental health can be impacted by physical health, and how physical health can impact mental health. Whether you experience chronic illness, trauma, identity issues (sexual orientation, ethnicity, the roles we play)-these are all areas that can affect one’s overall health. As a clinical psychologist, I have years of experience working in all these areas and hope to serve you to improve your well being. As someone who also struggles with chronic illness, specifically Crohn's Disease and PSC, my personal experience can also be helpful in improving understanding and treatment. Asking for help is hard, especially when you are in pain or feeling isolated. It's a brave step to reach out for help. I strive to help you find your healthiest self and to improving your quality of life. Feel free to e-mail: drwells@smsb-llc.com

Hope I. Hills, Ph.D.

Psychologist, Licensed Psychologist in NC, Authorized PsyPact Practitioner in 40 states
I have been a licensed therapist since 1987 when I was a professor of Counseling Psychology at the University of Missouri. I've continued to help my clients learn to love and accept themselves, whether in individual or couples therapy, executives and their teams, or women in prison. I pay attention to Body, Mind, and Spirit as we work, as I believe we must recognize the interaction of all three. Clients comment that despite feeling safe with me, they feel challenged to face themselves.

Fatma Aydin, PhD

Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Psychologist
It is often difficult to ask for support in the face of life’s challenges, and I appreciate you taking this step! I work with young adults and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, life transitions, and identity and self-esteem concerns, among others. My goal is to create a comfortable and safe space where we work collaboratively to help you face those challenges and make the changes you desire to live a more fulfilling life. We all have vulnerabilities, and strengths we often don’t realize. I therefore work with my clients to build on their strengths and resilience, and develop self-compassion. I recognize the impact of culture on our identities and experiences and I have enjoyed working with clients from diverse backgrounds at outpatient, community mental health, and university counseling settings. These included the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Northwestern University, DePaul University and University of Illinois at Chicago. I welcome clients from all walks of life and feel humbled by their willingness to invite me to be a part of their journey.

It is my belief that we all have an innate desire to connect, feel heard, and be understood. My therapeutic approach is grounded in this belief, and it is my hope that we will create a meaningful therapy that is validating and encouraging, yet simultaneously challenging enough to be a catalyst for meaningful growth.
