Depression is a complex disorder calling for the selection of appropriate therapies from among several that are possible depending on which may be likely to be the most effective.
I strive to not make assumptions, but to listen to you with an open mind, to respect you and your feelings, to be sensitive yet objective and flexible, honest, and direct. My challenge is to craft a treatment specifically for you and your unique needs and to keep you clearly in my focus.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, Psychotherapist, & Psychoanalytic Candidate
Depression often feels like a heavy weight, obscuring joy and motivation. Psychoanalytic therapy offers a unique lens to explore the unconscious roots of depression. We'll work together to uncover hidden conflicts, past losses, or negative self-beliefs that may be fueling your low mood. By bringing these unconscious elements to light, we can understand their impact and develop new ways of coping. This journey can lead to a renewed sense of purpose, increased emotional resilience, and a brighter outlook on life.
As a therapist specializing in depression, I offer a compassionate and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore their feelings and experiences. Together, we'll work to understand the underlying causes of your depression and how it manifests in your life. Through evidence-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness practices, I aim to help you challenge negative thought patterns, develop coping strategies, and regain a sense of control. Our sessions will focus on building resilience, enhancing self-esteem, and fostering a hopeful outlook for the future. I am committed to supporting you on your journey towards healing and finding renewed joy in everyday life.
Working with my deep understanding of early attachment disappointments, you and I can work together to repair those lost connections and find new, stronger ones.
A diagnosis of depression can be extremely disruptive if left untreated. We provide a safe, containing environment to help you manage emotional dysregulation and help develop structures to improve overall emotional functioning. We work well with excellent psychiatrists to aid with medication management, as appropriate.
You can “have it all” and still feel deeply depressed—an issue that can be very confusing and shameful. Depression is stigmatized in our society which adds to the level of shame we can feel when we are experiencing it. Together we can unlock what is happening under the surface of your depression and better understand what changes you want to make to feel better in your skin.
What does depression mean to you? What is your own unique process of experiencing depression and how can we make that work for you instead of against you.
