Margaret Graham
Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC
My favorite way to approach client who has been diagnosed with ADHD is to suggest that while the world operates on an Android or PC platform, the ADHD brain thrives with an iOS operating system. I don't mean this literally - I just mean that drawing inside the lines often doesn't produce creative output, and school and work put executive function on a pedestal, ignoring the wonders of imagination, idea generation, hyperfocus, and other amazing attributes that tend to accompany neurodiversity. Typically, I talk to clients about impulse control, emotional regulation, flexible thinking (go with the flow, task switching), working memory (holding a task in your mind long enough to get a task done), self-monitoring, planning and prioritizing, task initiation, and organization. We usually select the top one or two areas where clients want to focus and use that as our entry point.

I provide psychological assessments and therapy for adults and children regarding questions of ADHD. I often work with teenagers and adults who have received diagnoses later in life to understand the complex feelings that arise with missed diagnoses. Letitia Cullens-Proctor
Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC, LCPC, CCMHC
Being neurodivergent comes with many challenges such as overcoming burnout, learning how to unmask, and finding out what self-care and coping skills look like for your nervous system. Whether there is a formal assessment or not, I support clients as the navigate difficulties they are experiencing living in a neurotypical world.
