John Castleford
Registered Psychotherapist, MA, MIAEB, FRAI
I have been a psychotherapist and mental health coach for many years, and I now specialise almost exclusively in helping those with, or recovering from, cancer. It's a debilitating disease that I have experienced twice, so I know at first hand the effect it can have on the quality of life and particularly how it makes us feel -- either as a reaction to being diagnosed and undergoing treatment, or when in remission as a survivor, the fear of it recurring.
I can also help family members and close friends, who often feel helpless bystanders.
We have all experienced our feelings dominating what we think, and what we do. But heightened emotions stop us thinking clearly. And that can often lead us to feel out of control.
Unlike many therapists, I do not believe that the adverse effect on our thinking and our behaviour from a life-changing event like cancer is a dysfunctional flaw or a disorder that needs treatment. Typical reactions to cancer --anxiety, fear, stress and low mood -- are part of life. Why cancer often triggers is a range of reactions: shock and denial; Shock and denial that it is happening. Coping with fear, anxiety and panic can be difficult, particularly as mood swings may frequently change. Feelings of sadness may range from low moof to extreme depression.
Ultimately we know, at a rational level, that we are mortal. But we also have we also have a very strong instinct to survive. We want to live. And enjoy life. Cancer is not the death sentence it once was.
I can help you come to terms with the reality as well as the inevitable perceptions that may influence you. And I can help you to flourish, rather than just cope and survive.

Lisa Sanfilippo
Therapist, MA, MSc, UKCP, MBACP
Even if you start therapy to help you out of a dark or difficult time, it is a great gift that you give to yourself. We learn a great deal about ourselves, about others and ultimately about living with more ease and enjoyment. We can get curious about what you learnt growing up and in your life to date that created your world-view, your assumptions and even your body's responses to the situations you face. We'll learn about how you relate to your world in ways that *work* for you, as well as where these ways of relating are causing pain or limiting you. We will find your best ways to unblock and release those old responses. The goal: to help you to be more at-ease and authentically yourself and in relation to friends, family, work and other important people and situations. I believe every one of us has a soul-nature and way of being that works well for us and it's our job to work with that.
I work with an integrative palette of approaches and tools, and share them with you in our conversations. A good deal of our work will involve not just thoughts and feelings, but how they land in your body. When we start to shift what is available to our felt-sense, our perceptions and actions can shift dramatically. This is one of the things I love about the recent post-graduate training I've undertaken in Somatic Experiencing. I'm at the Intermediate level in this method and it informs my approach to trauma, to neurodiversity and to relationships. I've also undertaken significant studies in ADHD and autism to help work with neurodivergence.

Brittany Statler, Intuitive Wellness Therapy Group
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
Headline: Move Beyond Just "Coping"—Build a Life Guided by Values, Not Fear.
About Me
If you’re here, you’re likely exhausted. Exhausted by the "what-ifs" of anxiety, the rigid rules of an eating disorder, the cycles of OCD, or the heavy weight of past trauma. You’ve probably tried to "think" your way out of these feelings, only to find yourself more stuck.
I’m Brittany (she/her), co-founder of Intuitive Wellness Therapy Group. I am an action-oriented, compassionate therapist for those who are ready to stop managing their symptoms and start reclaiming their lives.
My Approach: Action-Oriented & Mind-Body Focused
In a private-pay practice, you deserve more than just a place to vent. You deserve a specialized roadmap. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based approaches to help you drop the rope in the tug-of-war with your thoughts.
My approach is individualized and somatic (mind-body). We don’t just talk about change; we practice it. Together, we create a non-judgmental space where we swap criticism for curiosity. We will:
Identify your core value system: Deciding what actually matters to you, separate from your anxiety or disorder.
Bridge the mind-body gap: Learning to process trauma and distress where it lives—in your nervous system.
Take bold action: Moving toward a "life worth living" by taking steps that align with your authentic self.
The Private Pay Advantage
Choosing a private pay therapist means your care is never dictated by an insurance company’s codes or session limits. It allows us the freedom to work at the pace and depth you actually need. I maintain a smaller, dedicated caseload to ensure you receive the high-touch, individualized support required for deep healing in areas like OCD, trauma, anxiety and ED recovery.
Next Steps
You don't have to navigate this alone. If you're ready to stop let fear drive and start living authentically, book a free discovery call here. Let's see how we can work together to get you back to the person you were meant to be.
