Gordon Wax BA HONS MBACP

Counsellor/Therapist, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist
Hi, my name is Gordon. Welcome! I’m am a fully qualified psychotherapist, working both online and in person from my private consulting room in Manchester England. I was born and raised in London. Personal therapy helped me to untangle my relationship with myself and my emotions from others. The world alone is a chaotic place to manage our own unknowns, anxieties, and traumas. I understand that everyone experiences the world in different ways, so unique problems require bespoke responses. Our lives are constantly creating new beginnings, change, and endings, so it’s natural to feel emotions strongly, think differently and respond atypically. I help clients explore all spheres of their life to help them build hope and to cope.

We started our practice supporting Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse to recover from the effects of their abuse and complex grief, and continue to center that care. Our practice includes support for trauma, complex trauma, dissociation, associated and co-occurring health and chronic health needs, anxiety, depression, addiction, personality disorders. We also offer integrative mental health care for mold toxin and some other environmental toxin exposure, and some TBI and PCS symptoms, as well as support for folks with chronic health related mental health needs that intersect with the above traumas. We offer intersectional care that is decolonizing, supports those impacted by systemic abuse, and supports affirming neurodiversity. We integrate TIST-- Trauma Informed Stabilization Therapy, DBR -- Deep Brain Reorienting to recover from Shock, IFS-- Internal Family Systems Work, PVT-- Polyvagal Theory, AT -- Attachment Theory, Nonviolent Communication, Inner Child Work, IPNB -- Interpersonal Neurobiology, Bonnie Badenoch's IPNB and dyad work, Memory Reconsolidation, Coherence/Existential Level of Care, BrainSpotting, DARE Attachment Model, CranioSacral (for mind, gut, and acute trauma recovery), Mediation/Relational/Partners/Couples Support, Functional Mental Health Care via Psychiatry Redefined Training and BioIndividual Nutrition, Integrative and CAM Health Care (herbalism, homeopathy, remote Traditional Chinese Medicine and other CAM Care), Student-Directed Learning Pedagogies (from Education), compassionate Parenting and inner Re-parenting, ... and a strong Intersectional and Social Justice Framework to support clients to recover from the debilitating effects of traumas and myriad effects of traumas, facilitate clients being centered in their own sense of self, develop healthier boundaries, cultivate self awareness (mindfulness), understand and parse power structures for healthy discernment ... and move towards more fulfilling self actualization that is compassionate, inclusive and also eco-relationally congruent. We are a POC/GM Practice with a decolonizing orientation and Intersectional framework. Red lines are red lines -- we don't support abuses of power systemically and culturally. We are supportive of indigenous peoples and other systemically marginalized peoples, and their rights to safety, parity, sovereignty and dignity. If you are interested in support, we'd love to work with you! Our focus has been on supporting adult survivors of childhood sexual trauma and torture, folks recovering from narcissistic trauma, folks recovering from oppressive hegemonic systemic trauma and/or folks recovering from these traumas along with recovering from toxic mold exposure. We do work with individuals with other needs who are active and engaged bystanders and activists advocating alongside the most systemically oppressed for systemic change for the greater good of the whole global community, prioritizing care for the most marginalized. We also support those who are actively stopping and recovering from committing moral injury and boundary transgressions and willingly doing the work to repair and become bystanders with their privilege rather than violent enactors. This is a no mass media and state propaganda zone. If you are interested in support, please ask! We'd love to work with you. Holding a grounded stance of compassion, empathy, non-judgment and light-hearted curiosity, I provide a safe and reflective space for clients to explore and gently unpack their lives. While clients may initially seek support for concerns such as anger, anxiety, compulsive sexual behaviours, relationship difficulties, or other presenting issues, my experience has shown that the underlying dynamics are often more complex than they first appear. My therapeutic ethos is centred on not viewing clients as problems to be fixed, but as individuals whose struggles deserve to be witnessed with respect, depth and thoughtful exploration. I work collaboratively, supporting clients to develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience and clarity about how they wish to live. I am of South Asian heritage, raised in London, and have lived in Sydney for over 30 years. Having straddled Eastern and Western cultures, including the particular nuances of my Indian background, I bring a culturally informed and integrative perspective to my practice. My earlier corporate career and lived experience of family life in Australia, alongside my own encounters with anxiety, stress and periods of low mood, have deepened my understanding of the pressures many clients face. My personal journey toward greater meaning, purpose and self-understanding informs my belief in psychotherapy as a transformative process. I am committed to supporting clients in cultivating insight, living more consciously, and moving toward lives that feel authentic and self-directed. If this approach resonates with you, I welcome the opportunity to connect.

Lisa Sanfilippo

Registered Psychotherapist, MA, MSc, UKCP, MBACP
Even if you start therapy to help you out of a dark or difficult time, it is a great gift that you give to yourself. We learn a great deal about ourselves, about others and ultimately about living with more ease and enjoyment. We can get curious about what you learnt growing up and in your life to date that created your world-view, your assumptions and even your body's responses to the situations you face. We'll learn about how you relate to your world in ways that *work* for you, as well as where these ways of relating are causing pain or limiting you. We will find your best ways to unblock and release those old responses. The goal: to help you to be more at-ease and authentically yourself and in relation to friends, family, work and other important people and situations. I believe every one of us has a soul-nature and way of being that works well for us and it's our job to work with that. I work with an integrative palette of approaches and tools, and share them with you in our conversations. A good deal of our work will involve not just thoughts and feelings, but how they land in your body. When we start to shift what is available to our felt-sense, our perceptions and actions can shift dramatically. This is one of the things I love about the recent post-graduate training I've undertaken in Somatic Experiencing. I'm at the Intermediate level in this method and it informs my approach to trauma, to neurodiversity and to relationships. I've also undertaken significant studies in ADHD and autism to help work with neurodivergence.

Warrington is a Cheshire town positioned between Manchester and Liverpool that has evolved from its industrial roots in wire manufacturing and chemicals into a significant logistics, retail, and corporate hub, and this economic transition shapes the workplace stress and mental health concerns that residents bring to therapy. NHS mental health services are provided through Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, and a private therapy sector serves those looking for faster access to care. The town has experienced significant growth and regeneration, attracting both young professionals and families, and the pressures of a commuter lifestyle within the northwest's busy transport corridor are common therapy themes. Common concerns include anxiety, depression, work-life balance, and relationship stress, and telehealth has expanded access to specialist practitioners beyond what is available locally.
