Feelings and experiences by men can sometimes feel difficult to express. In a society which hold that men should be strong and not show emotion, counselling can be the place where you can begin to feel safe and held. With trust being built within the therapeutic relationship you will be able to explore the feelings and issues you would like to examine and work through, helping you to acknowledge, manage and accept your concerns and experiences.

Uri Bookman

Counsellor/Therapist, Trauma-Informed Relationship Counsellor, Therapeutic coach
Hi, I’m Uri Bookman — a therapist, counsellor, and men’s work facilitator (PACFA 30041). For over a decade I’ve supported men in areas such as purpose, emotional expression, fatherhood, and relationships. In our sessions, we’ll explore the challenges you face — whether it’s anger, stress, intimacy, or the weight of expectation — and uncover what’s possible when you bring more authenticity and presence to your life. Drawing on men’s work, shadow work, and emotional intelligence, I offer a safe, grounded space to grow. If you’re ready to step into deeper strength and integrity, let’s connect.

Given recents changes in mental health awareness and well-being, much of the stigma associated with masculinity prompted reduced barriers for men seeking assistance. As a Veteran having lived and experienced a hyper-masculine identity, I appreciate the level of trust and commitment many undertake to redefine themselves as they embrace emotional healing and coaching. We'll partner to determine what it means for you to be your authentic and true self free of society's imprint on your journey.

Our models and images of masculinity and manhood are changing, need to change. What models did we grow up with – and what trauma? How do they fit our current circumstances? How do we imagine our future? How does our vision meet the needs of this time of transformation, this global shift? And, how do we get from where we are to where we want to be, individually and collectively? A radical re-appraisal of our roles as sons and fathers, lovers and partners, heroes and elders can draw on myths and stories, film and theatre; we have body-mind practices, also reconnecting with the body of the Earth; we can employ psychology, and make ritual. First and foremost, however, we need the support of similarly-motivated men, and a safe space for sharing – because let’s face it: sometimes we are not so good at that bit. I have offered ongoing men’s groups, indoors and out of doors, in addition to individual sessions.
