Lisa Sanfilippo

Therapist, MA, MSc, UKCP, MBACP
Even if you start therapy to help you out of a dark or difficult time, it is a great gift that you give to yourself. We learn a great deal about ourselves, about others and ultimately about living with more ease and enjoyment. We can get curious about what you learnt growing up and in your life to date that created your world-view, your assumptions and even your body's responses to the situations you face. We'll learn about how you relate to your world in ways that *work* for you, as well as where these ways of relating are causing pain or limiting you. We will find your best ways to unblock and release those old responses. The goal: to help you to be more at-ease and authentically yourself and in relation to friends, family, work and other important people and situations. I believe every one of us has a soul-nature and way of being that works well for us and it's our job to work with that. I work with an integrative palette of approaches and tools, and share them with you in our conversations. A good deal of our work will involve not just thoughts and feelings, but how they land in your body. When we start to shift what is available to our felt-sense, our perceptions and actions can shift dramatically. This is one of the things I love about the recent post-graduate training I've undertaken in Somatic Experiencing. I'm at the Intermediate level in this method and it informs my approach to trauma, to neurodiversity and to relationships. I've also undertaken significant studies in ADHD and autism to help work with neurodivergence.

Saint Albans, England therapist: Karine Flynn, psychologist
Serving Jewish

Karine Flynn

Psychologist, MSc, GMBPS
You've done real therapeutic work. You understand your patterns with a clarity that took years to build: why your nervous system braces before a difficult conversation, why certain relationships seem to confirm your oldest fears, why the same emotional weather keeps returning no matter how much you've examined it. That understanding is not the problem. There is simply a neurobiological ceiling to what verbal processing can reach. Some people hit it - and when they do, the patterns that remain aren't stored as thoughts to be reframed. They live in the nervous system, in the body's tissues, in responses that were encoded long before language was available to organise them. I work at that ceiling. Not because what came before was wrong - but because the next layer of work requires a different kind of access. With over 20 years of experience and a deep specialisation in body-based trauma release, I work with self-aware individuals who are ready to move from understanding their patterns to releasing them. If that's where you are, I'd like to hear from you.

Consulting from a private practice in Fulham and Chelsea in London, I employ a combination of mindfulness-based interventions and psychotherapy as a gateway to change, encouraging clients how to come into relationship with their own thoughts, feelings and habitual behaviours rather than wrestle with them. Sheffield is one of England's great post-industrial cities, historically defined by its steel and cutlery manufacturing and now reinventing itself as a hub for advanced manufacturing, digital industries, and higher education. The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University together give the city a large student population and strong training pipelines for healthcare and psychology professionals. Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust provides public mental health services, with a private therapy community concentrated in Broomhill, Ecclesall, and Crookes. The city's working-class identity, strong community bonds, and history of economic hardship mean therapists frequently address depression, employment-related stress, and intergenerational family challenges alongside the concerns of a growing younger professional population.
