Have you ever heard, "Do not be fearful for anything...?" What exactly does that mean? Our goal is to assist you in learning to overcome your fears and realize that we can live lives that are absent of fear and anxiety.
I utilize a combination of evidence based techniques, including CBT, Mindfulness, and EMDR to create a plan to help you challenge maladaptive thought patterns, manage physical and emotional symptoms of anxiety, and overcome specific phobias.
My therapeutic approach involves delving into the roots of anxiety, aiming to understand the underlying factors that contribute to heightened fears and worries. I create a safe and empathetic space where clients can explore the origins of their anxiety, recognizing that it often stems from deeper sources.
In our sessions, we collaboratively investigate patterns, triggers, and past experiences that may be influencing the intensity of anxiety. By gaining insight into your deeper emotions, beliefs, and thought patterns associated with anxiety, we move towards replacing long-held fears with updated information.
My focus is on empowering clients to respond differently to anxiety by developing coping mechanisms, challenging irrational beliefs, and learning to accept and allow the emotion to move through them. Through a process of exploration and education, we will replace fears rooted in uncertainty with a more nuanced and informed understanding of the challenges they face.
Anxiety causes us oftentimes to avoid and isolate. Through cognitive behavior therapy, exposure work, and dialectical behavior therapy, I work with clients on challenging this avoidance in order to help you cope more effectively with the anxiety you struggle with.
Are you constantly feeling on edge? Worried about when the next shoe is going to drop? Is worry impacting all your relationships? Let's work on soothing those fears and replacing them with realistic and empowering thoughts.
To exist is to exist in a state of anxiety; I will work with you to uncover sources of anxiety as well as work to develop coping strategies and skills necessary to confront and disrupt anxiety triggers & thought patterns to persist and impact your day to day functioning.
Licensed Professional Counselor, LPCS (SC), LCMHC (NC)
We have ALL experienced "anxiety" at some point in our lives. The excessive worry or fear about a future event, a circumstance or fixed topic such as flying or social engagements. However, if we ALLOW the excessiveness to continue, our thoughts can be cluttered with the 'what if's' and should've/would've/could've mentality. All of these options put the brain in overdrive trying to find solutions for things that may never come into our reality. By addressing our thought process, we can start to be mindful and focus on the present.
Obsessive worrying, thinking, feelings of nervousness, and anxiety can be debilitating and impact your daily life. Let us help you detangle and exit this cycle so you be your best self.
