********I AM OFFERING A VIRTUAL 12 WEEK DBT SKILLS GROUP STARTING 30 APRIL 2024 FOR RESIDENTS OF AB, ON, NS. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR FURTHER DETAILS******** Life is a journey comprised of the choices we make. We all have the ability to change course at any time by making different choices. No one is stuck, and no one has to be a victim to their past, their mistakes or feel trapped by their behaviors. Even our mistakes or tragedies we have experienced, have the power to transform us in brilliant and beautiful ways, if we chose to take responsibility. My practice is based on the idea of Kintsukuroi. This is the Japanese art of pottery repair, in which broken pieces of pottery are mended using precious metals. The resulting piece is often more beautiful than it was before it was broken. Its cracks make it unique, and the shining way it has been mended now becomes a valuable feature. I believe that difficult times do not have to break us, but can help us grow , and our cracks can become opportunities to mend ourselves back together in beautiful ways. Our cracks can be reminders that even broken things can still be golden.

*I am currently accepting new clients for online and in-person sessions * The action you have made to seek help is not an easy one, rather it demonstrates great strength, commitment, and resiliency. The effects of trauma can leave us feeling vulnerable and unsafe long after the event itself. So often people can be left feeling hopeless, disconnected, and ashamed. Healing these wounds are essential to developing a strong sense of self, positive self view, and safety within relationships. I work from a trauma-informed perspective and pull from approaches that will allow us to build an understanding of the protective strategies formed to survive the emotional and mental impact of the trauma and cultivate self-acceptance and trust with ourselves and others. I hope to create a space where you feel valued, seen, and safe as I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of the healing process. Primarily, I work with those who have experienced recent and historical trauma, such as attachment trauma and abuse/assault. Additionally, I work with clients seeking support for emotional distress (e.g., reactivity, difficulties regulating, depression, anxiety), interpersonal relationships (e.g., relationship patterns, vulnerability issues), self-esteem issues, and personality disorders, among other areas as well. My practice is inclusive, as I work with diverse problems, histories and cultural identities, and ensure the approaches used are catered to each unique individual. My hope is to work together to heal old wounds and painful current experiences, and guide you through your journey towards a healthier life and empower you to become your most authentic self.
